YUENGLING BREWERY |
Not much exists in Pottsville, Schuylkill County. Sure, there was the old NFL team the Pottsville Maroons back in the 1920's. The locals still talk about how they got "hosed" out of an NFL title because they played an exhibition game. Freakin' Dutchies just cannot let it go. They do have one cool thing going for them and that's the Yuengling Brewery. Yuengling Brewery was founded in 1829 and it is the oldest brewery in the United States and has been owned by the same family for six generations. The flagship product is Yuengling Lager which can be ordered in any bar throughout eastern Pennsylvania by just asking for a "lager." Every weekend the brewery offers free tours of their facilities and provide a brief history of the company. During the Prohibition years the brewery made "Cereal Beer" or "Near Beer"... a non-alcoholic alternative. And across the street they produced Yuengling Ice Cream. What a beautiful combination... beer and lactose. There goes my bowels! |

God forbid that a church would "touch" a brewery. I guess they are too busy touching little boys instead. |
