HISTORY OF THE HAMRUN TABLE FOOTBALL CLUB

The Hamrun Table Football Club was established in 1985 as the Hamrun Table Soccer League (HTSL) and began to organise a legaue on a home and away basis, with the matches being played at the members' homes. The first six members of the club were Frank Chetcuti, Mario Spiteri, Stephen Grima, Stephen Caruana, Marco Mallia and Vince Bellizzi.

In May 1989 the club changed its name to Hamrun Subbuteo Club (HSC), whilst in July of that same year an agreement was reached with the Immaculate Conception Youth Centre (Hamrun) in order to start hosting the club's competitions inside their premises.

In September 1990 the club's name was changed to Hamrun Table Football Club (HTFC) and from January 1991 up to March 2001 the club's competitions were held inside the Bank of Valletta Sports and Social Club.

From March 2001 to date the club has been holding its competitions at the premises provided by one of its members (Alan Azzopardi), which are located at 18, St. Angelo street, St. Julians.

A major event in the club's history occurred in February 2003 when HTFC acquired new premises in Birkirkara. These premises are being exclusively used by the HTFC and are totally managed by the HTFC committe.

The season normally starts off at around October and finishes at around June. The main competitions held by the club are the following:

HTFC Premier League: this is the main competition organised by the club and is played throughout the season on a 2 or 3 round league format. The winner of the competition becomes the Hamrun Champion of the season.

HTFC Christmas Cup: this competition is organised during the Christmas period and is played on a knock-out basis.

Hamrun Cup: this is the club's second major competition and is held towards the end of the season on a knock-out basis.

HTFC Challenge Cup: this is played between the Premier League champion and the Hamrun Cup winner.

The HTFC is a member of the Malta Table Football Sports Association (MTFSA) and the Federation of International Sport of Table Football (FISTF) and participates in the competitions for clubs held on a national and international level.
