The Bear rank is for boys 7 years of age or in the 3rd grade. It is the goal of the Den Leaders to have all of the Cubs earning the Bear rank by the Gold and Blue Breakfast. Advancement in rank is a "big event" in Scouting and we like to present badges in a grand fashion. We perform an advancement ceremony in front of family and friends to emphasize the pride the Cubs should take in earning their award. Please help your Den Leaders by helping the boys complete the required activities in time for the Blue and Gold. It would be wrong to give awards that are not earned and we don't want to see any boys left behind. Once rank is earned, Cubs are free to complete other activities at their own pace. |

For the 2nd year in a row, the Cubs will wear their Progress Toward Rank totem on their right shirt pocket. Instant recognition is important with boys to let them know their hard work is being noticed and appreciated. As Cubs complete 3 activities towards the Bear rank, they are awarded a red bead to show their progress. After earning all 4 beads, the Cub is awarded the Bear Patch. |

There are many fun and exciting activities for boys to do in Cub Scouts. Among them all are "required" activities that must be completed to earn "rank", and there are "elective" activities that are done in the fun and educational spirit of the Scouting Experience. The completion of 10 elective activities earns an Arrow Point. The first Arrow Point earned is Gold, every 10 after that is awarded with a silver. Cubs are under no obligation to earn a set number of elective activities and are free to earn them at their own pace |

Beltloops, Pins and Letters... are part of the Academic and Sports program designed to enhance and expand the range of experiences to which a Cub is exposed. By completing specific tasks, a Beltloop, Pin and eventually a Letter can be earned for each field. There are currently 24 different fields of interest available. |
