What is the Pack Committee?

Saint Michael's RC Church Overlea
CHARTERS the National BSA Program as a means of supporting the youth of our Parish..  The Liason between those administering the program  and the church is the Chartered Organization Representative (COR). Overseeing and guiding to ensure the Program adheres to BSA guidelines, is the Unit Commissioner.  Under the COR are the Cubmaster and Pack Committee.

The Pack is lead by the
Cubmaster who is responsible for the Dens and Den Leaders. He sets the agenda for the entire year's program, then partners with the Committee to allocate human and financial resources to get tasks done.  Committee members take lead roles on specific events/jobs/projects. The Committee Chairperson helps to guide and monitor the committee events. Their purpose is to support the Cubmaster.

Committee Chairperson - Manages the Committee and meets monthly to ensure that Chairpeople are completing their respective action items.
Den Leaders - Responsible for delivering a Scouting Program at the Den level.  Works with parents to have fun meetings and exciting field trips while helping the boys earn rank and complete electives..
Treasurer - Monitors and reports Pack finances and spending.
Fund Raising Chairperson - A critical role responsible for handling fund raising events that will finance the year's events.  Primarily responsible for Popcorn Sales.
Secretary - Records minutes at Committee meetings.  Tracks action items and presents them for review at following Pack Meetings.  Also responsible for creation/copy of flyers, brochures, and leaflets.
Advancement Chairperson - responsible for recording awards and advancements in rank.  Often overlooked, this critical role validates accurate records exist within the District archives and is especially important for future Eagle Scouts applications and other Adult Leader Awards that may need to be verified in the years to come.

The BSA Charter states a Committee be a minimum of 3 individuals, but there is NO LIMIT to the positions that could exist.  It is possible to have additional positions which include Chairperson roles for adult training, recruitment, religious programs & education, Chairperson for Friends of Scouting, community service projects, Summertime Events, Space Derby, Raingutter Regatta, and Day Camp Coordinators.
