Activity:

• Initiate a dialog with the boys about what they did over the holidays or encourage them to talk about something interesting that happened to them.

• Try to ensure all boys get a chance to speak to earn this requirement.

Postcard Instructions

Date: January 18-20, 2002

Earns: Communicating Belt Loop #2

Supplies: Each boy is to bring a pre-addressed, stamped postcard with them to the campout.

Activity:

Explain they are to write a note on the left side of the postcard to their mom, brother, sister, friend, grandparents (whoever they addressed the postcard to) about how much fun they are having at camp or other similar subject.

Assist with ideas, sentences, and spelling. Parents can help their scouts think of something to write.

Interests Poster Instructions

This is a take-home project if not enough time to finish at camp.

Date: January 18-20, 2002

Earns: Communicating Belt Loop #3

Supplies: posterboard, glue stick, felt pens, each boy brings magazine pictures about their interests

Activity:

• Have each boy write their name on the poster.

• As boys are gluing on their pictures, initiate conversation about what interests them and to tell about the pictures that they brought for the poster.

• They can also draw pictures about their interests with the felt pens.

• They can label their pictures if they wish.
