WHY BOYCOTT AMAZON.COM?
The most defenseless of God's creations - our children - are fair game under Amazon.com Chairman Jeffrey Bezos' corporate philosophy. The online retailer Amazon.com now offers a book which PROMOTES the depraved act of men having sex with young boys. "Understanding Loved Boys and Boylovers," by David L. Riegel, attempts to portray men who sexually pursue young boys as "sincere, concerned, loving human beings who simply have a sexual orientation that is neither understood nor accepted by most others." One online reviewer at Amazon.com's website wrote, "As a pedophile myself, I found this book to be enlightening in my quest to truly come to terms with my own sexuality." Another reviewer wrote, "As a boylover, I found this book extremely helpful. But it is not intended for the boylover community: It is meant for the general public who fear the phenomenon of pedosexuality. As such, it sets out to explain in plain language what this phenomenon is about." For Amazon.com to sell a book justifying such actions is repulsive and irresponsible. Men who sexually pursue young boys are sick and need help rather than materials that are in sympathy with or even foster a deeper depravity. Men who feed upon these materials are pedophiles, pure and simple. In November of 1999, AFA contacted Amazon.com after learning that it offered "The Horseman: Obsessions of a Zoophile" (a person who has sex with animals) and "Dearest Pet: On Bestiality." Online reviews hailed Dearest Pet as a step-by-step manual with "wonderful and diverse color illustrations of zoophilia." These books are still available at Amazon.com. When asked if it's OK to make a dollar bill selling these types of books, Emily Glassman, Amazon.com Public Relations Manager simply stated, "It’s a question of selection." Amazon.com and Chairman Jeffrey Bezos refused AFA's request in the Spring of 2000 to discontinue the sale of "Understanding Loved Boys and Boylovers" and staunchly defended it. Carl Gish, Amazon.com General Manager and spokesman for Bezos defended the practice, "Our mission isn't to be a censor. It is to provide selection." Gish added "...those books are out there and there are people who think like that out there, and it's their prerogative." According to WorldNetDaily, "Understanding Loved Boys and Boylovers" also can be bought through the bookseller Borders, which has a special arrangement with Amazon.com.
