ITEM 5: SEX ON TV
My wife and I watched a HBO show about sex on TV across the globe. Apparently, we are a little stingy as to what makes it on TV. Many countries show behinds, some breasts all seem very suggestive and erotic, or just plain tasteless. This poor man was fired because a split second image from Playboy made it into a report. Now I'm glad we are a little stingy when it comes to sex, Europe is a bunch of freaks when it comes to sex. When I was in Germany they had phone sex ads which showed naked women, and people in various stages of intercourse. Is that where we are headed? No answer or further comment here...

ITEM 4: MICHIGAN TURNING RED?
I've always been of the belief Michigan as a whole is far less blue than is painted. now National Review Online has some interesting takes concerning Bush's optimism in Michigan
MICHIGAN: BUSHIES BULLISH [Henry Payne 10/31 10:47 AM]
The Bush team’s optimism in the face of long Michigan odds seems to be bearing fruit.
A poll released Sunday morning by the Detroit News has Bush drawing to within two points of John Kerry with just two days to go. Perhaps more significantly, the Zogby poll – which has never had Bush closer than seven points all year – put Bush ahead in the state by two, 47-45.
(For a detailed look at how the News poll breaks down by age, race, etc. go here: http://www.detnews.com/2004/politics/0410/31/a01-320549.htm)
The stunning closeness of a race that experts had all but written off for Kerry last week confirms the Bush camp’s strategy to throw everything at the state in the race’s closing stages. In the last week, Bush has played before crowds of 30,000 in Auburn Hills, 8,0000 in Pontiac, and 17,000 in Grand Rapids yesterday.
The presidential visits are “clearly having an impact,” says Detroit News pollster Steve Mitchell. “What we have is a very volatile electorate. One day they are for Bush, and the next day they wake up being for Kerry.” Indeed, 12 percent of News poll respondents are still undecided, up from 10 percent in the Friday tracking poll.
While the Kerry campaign remains confident of a Kerry win here, Bush’s surge has forced them to put valuable resources back into a battleground state they once took for granted.
Bush senior strategist Matthew Dowd, a native Michigander who grew up in Southfield north of Detroit, reflects the bullish attitude of Republicans here: “I think Michigan will be very close, which is very good news for us. If we win Michigan, Sen. Kerry cannot win the White House.”
Now for the other side, also from NRO, Bill Ballenger explains how Democrats do better than they should.MICHIGAN: BALLENGER ON THE RACE [Henry Payne 10/30 07:05 PM]
In addition to keeping you up to date on the presidential horse race, here's the first in a series of excerpts from my interview with Bill Ballenger, editor of "Inside Michigan Politics." Crowned by The Detroit News as "Michigan's undisputed Crown Prince of Punditry," the colorful Ballenger holds a masters from Harvard's Kennedy School, served in the Ford administration, and was a Republican state senator and rep before making a career as Michigan's top political analyst.
If all politics is local, then why in the world is Michigan - an auto state with a bias towards Midwest cultural conservatism - polling for a notoriously anti-automobile liberal senator from Boston?
"Forget Kerry", replies Ballenger, "How is that that Michigan goes for Al Gore by seven points in 2000?" (Among other things, Al Gore wrote in "Earth in the Balance" that the gas-powered automobile is a "mortal threat to the security of every nation that is more deadly than that of any military enemy we are ever again likely to confront.")
Ballenger attributes Michigan's fondness for Kerry to three things. First, most voters aren't fond of Kerry. They just hate George W. Bush. Says Ballenger: "The driving force is hatred of Bush. I haven't heard a single person say 'I love John Kerry.'"
Second, Michigan's two Democratic senators and powerful Democratic congressman John Dingell give Kerry a free pass in return for favors down the road. Ballenger: "Levin, Stabenow, and Dingell put their arms around him. They tell him to keep his mouth shut about regulating the auto industry. These guys are partisans who will do anything to get their man elected. And honestly, they know that if he gets in office, he won't do anything. They can call in their chits and keep him in line."
And lastly, the auto industry itself gives Kerry a free pass. Ballenger points out that top executives like Ford chairman Bill Ford Junior "talk the same green talk that Kerry does." Combine this with a lack of press coverage of Kerry's more controversial green ideas, and Michigan's elites simply let Kerry slide. "They let him get away with murder," concludes Ballenger.

ITEM 3: AL GORE RETURNS
The former Veep is making an appearance at Flint's South Western Academy. If anyone actually cares what Gore has to say he or she is already going to vote Kerry.

ITEM 2: MARRIED...WITH CHILDREN
While trying to relax from the election news, and working 12 hour days 6 days a week (damn the Bush economy) I've been relaxing to "Married...With Children" DVDs. I've always loved the show, but have not seen it since my own marriage, they are quite different and more funny than I remember. Truthfully, I know the psyche of Al Bundy.

ITEM 1: ONE DAY AND COUNTING
One full day until Election Day. Some polls show the race tightening, some still have Bush up hovering just under 50%. Some predict around 58% which they say will benefit Kerry. I'd have to disagree with this. New ignorant voters will probably vote Kerry, however, many conservative voters do not vote because, like me, they are deep in enemy territory, or they seem unexcited in elections past. Then there is the young vote. MTV it trying to convince college kids the draft is coming back, funny Kerry and Edwards are saying the same thing if Bush wins. The thought of a draft is such a load of malarkey. Many prior polls of college students have revealed that they on a whole are more conservative than a generation ago. Many are worried about security and have enough sense to know the what the professors are shoveling.
Kerry as a man has no honor nor integerty. He defiled those fighting in Vietnam through his actions when he returned to the States. His conduct over there illustrates his lack of character, this man didn't have what it took to be a Navy junior officer let alone now have what it takes to be Commander in Chief.
If Kerry wins history will state the Iraq War was for naught, those now over 1,000 died for Bush's plans for reelection. Never mind the links with terror Saddam had, nor the universal belief in his WMD nor his tortuous action him and his demonic sons bore upon the Iraqi people. Never mind that for the first time in years sewage, water and electricity facilities are being repaired and built. All of that, which credits the greatness of America, will be washed over. Terrorists will take away the notion if you hurt America enough she, through her people, will back down. That is unexceptable and will cause decades of attacks.

ITEM 1: KERRY JOKE
I thank my buddy from the Corps, Matt for this:
John Kerry was scheduled to visit the Catholic National Cathedral outside
Washington as part of his campaign for President. Kerry's campaign manager
made a
visit to the Cardinal and said to him, "We've been getting a lot of bad
publicity among Catholics because of Kerry's position on abortion and the
like.
We'd gladly make a contribution to the church of $100,000 if during your
sermon
you'd say John Kerry is a saint."
The Cardinal thought it over for a few moments and finally said, "The
Church
is in desperate need of funds and I will agree to do it."
Kerry pompously shows up looking especially smug today and as the Mass
progresses the Cardinal begins his homily.
"John Kerry is a petty, self-absorbed hypocrite and a nitwit. He is a
liar, a
cheat, and a low intelligence weasel. He wrote a book and portrayed
himself
in the best light as a Vietnam War hero, when he was actually a traitor to
his
fellow servicemen and country. He has lied about his military record and
had
the gall to put himself in for a medal. He divorced his first wife and
remarried for more money, and now is using it to lie to the American
people. He says
he is for the little guy, but has repeatedly voted to keep partial birth
abortions legal and Federally funded. He is the worst example of a
Catholic I've
ever personally known. But compared to Ted Kennedy, John Kerry is a
saint."

ITEM 5: MISSING EXPLOSIVES
Kerry is getting mileage out of these missing explosives in Iraq. Funny they might have disapeared prior to US invasion, NBC was with the 101st when they reached the compound and never saw the explosives. Yet Kerry says this is how the administration does things. Now Drudge is saying CBS was going to run the story next Sunday to throw the election in a dizzy. Oh yea, fair and balanced there.

ITEM 4: WEB UPDATE!!!
I'm adding more Page goodness, if that is possible. I'm putting some of my term papers on here. This will either shine a good light upon me, or a bad one upon University of Michigan-Flint. Here is one about the America's course to war in Kosovo, and the Alexandra Affair.
10/26/2004 3:54:14 AM
ITEM 3: SIGN COUNT
I'm not sure what this means, but I am seeing a lot of Bush signs within the city of Flint. Perhaps this means nothing, but I do not recall seeing as many in 2000 nor seeing as many for Postumous for Governor in 2002. Now, I grant the reader Kerry signs far outnumber Bush, however, I am impressed by the number of signs.
10/26/2004 3:48:10 AM
ITEM 2: ONE WEEK
One week until E-Day. I just want this thing to be over, my God, please end it. I got cable and now I am fascinated by the political commercials. Some are great and many just feel pretty phony, like the Mothers Against Bush, MOB, it just looks too staged. Then there is the one handed guy saying his command said there was a connection between 9/11 and Iraq. Here again I believe MoveOn.org is exploiting an issue and embedding the public with the idea this was a reason for war.

ITEM 1: DUCKS WIN AGAIN
My fowl foe has outwitted me again. Page: 0 Ducks: 2 As an aside, I made some goose bar-b-cue and it was mmmmmm.
10/21/2004 3:45:11 PM
ITEM 1: POLITICAL DRESS UP
One thing I hate every political season is when politicians dress up like the average working folk. That is what Kerry in hunting garb reminds me as. He looks about as sill as Clinton when he did it. You notice no pictures are taken of them actually hunting, just walking out of the field with game that he alegally shot.
10/18/2004 5:57:13 PM
ITEM 1: PROP 1
Proposal 1 makes voters decide before any new gambling it introduced in the state. I was thinking, "Ok, I might go for that." However, it applies to state lottery and any new games the state wishes to introduce. That is why the governor and speaker of the house have come out against it. Now we see ads with UofM law professors stating, the law doesn't take money away from schools or apply to Indian casinos. No one has said they do, in fact that is a complaint that Indian casinos are exempt. A new ad states the politians in Lansing want to "Expand internet gambling tageted to children." That is pretty laughable.

ITEM 3: "TEAM AMERICA" F-YEAH!
At the movies any red blooded American should see "Team America: World Police." One of the most funny movies I've seen, many a time I was laughing so hard my stomach hurt. Its premise is simple, there is an elite terrorist fighting unit in America that must track down WMDs before terrorist can use them. The do, and destroy many global land marks in the process. After destroying half of Paris and gunning down many Parisians, one character remarks, "Everything is bon." There is the most erotic-weird-strange-funny sex scene ever put on film. The fact the actors are marionettes makes the movie all the more wonderful. The liberal Hollywood wack jobs are represented here under the name of Film Actor's Guild, or better known as F.A.G. Alec Baldwin would appear on to make a point and it would say, "Alec Baldwin-F.A.G" Michael Moore makes an appearance and his demise is one of this film's most memorable moments. The songs very from "America,Fuck Yeah\We're coming to save the motherfucking day" a song that proclaims "Freedom costs a buck-oh-five." This film tackles the Global War on Terror and in this Hollywood film, the good guys win.
10/17/2004 6:23:42 PM
ITEM 2: YARD SIGN CRIME
A house near me has lost 3 Bush signs in a week. I called Genesee GOP and they said that is not uncommon, and they were so short on signs because of theft, and demand, I could only get two. I took both and left a note for my neighbor, who in turn firmly ensconced them in the yard on Atherton Rd, right next to the homemade one.

ITEM 1: WOW IT'S BEEN A WHILE
Partly through apathy I've been absent from here. Honestly, not much on this blog is original. Though some of it is. Opening of Duck was too windy, Ducks: 1 Page: 0.
10/8/2004 6:32:44 PM
ITEM 2: DUCK SEASON
Tomorrow is the start of duck season in lower Michigan. I'll watch the debates then cruise up north at 3 am.
10/8/2004 6:30:21 PM
ITEM 1: PREZ IN THE FLESH
I was able to see the President this week in Farmington Hills. I even touched his hand as he went by after his speech. I saw him in 2002, but not this close. He is a lot shorter than I thought.
9/30/2004 11:21:45 PM
ITEM 3: VOTERGASM
Rush has been talking about it for three days, look at the the site and see. "This Nov. 2 I promise to vote. To have sex. To experience...a Votergasm."
9/30/2004 11:10:47 PM
ITEM 2: CAMERON DIAZ ON OPRAH
Watching the Queen of daytime yesterday, I was a little taken back by Cameron Diaz's statement, "If you think rape should be legal, then don't vote." I turned to my wife and said, "Who is the pro rape candidate?" Drudge has a link.
9/30/2004 11:01:30 PM
ITEM 1: DEBATE REVIEW
Once again my wife and I watched the Presidential debates, drunk, or on our way. Which, I may say, is the proper way to do it. She was doing a drinking game with a shot for every mention of the word "Iraq" or some variation thereof. She and her sister, Sarah, only made it halfway through. I would say Kerry seemed to have the better day, however, it is hard to follow Bush when not participating in adult beverages. I think expectations were pretty low for both candidates, and I think Bush did a great deal to lay out Kerry's lack of belief in his stance and reiterated the importance of follow through in the Global War on Terror.
I doubt any change in the polls will result from this one debate, Reagan was declared the "loser" of his first debate with Mondale, only to win 49 states a few weeks later.
9/29/2004 8:34:06 AM
ITEM 2: Wictory Wednesday
I am totally pumped over the debates. My wife and I are going to recreate our viewing of 2000 debates, that will consist of some adult beverages and 90 minutes of making fun of both candidates.

ITEM 1: MY TIME
My time in the past few days was spent working on my journal of OCS, catching up on the news I've missed, the books I missed and the love of my wife I missed.

ITEM 1: I'M BACK FROM OCS
I'm back from OCS. I had some fun, met some good friends. Didn't really learn much about being an officer, which they said wasn't their job. 240 brave men and women died in Iraq. One was a good friend of a buddy of mine in my PLT. 12 died in Afghanistan since I left. Sadly someone forgot to tell them the "Bush Administration has forgotten Afghanistan."
I am still perplexed at those that say Iraq has no terror links, or did have none. All these head chopping fanatics might be a clue. Why are not the American People demanding these dudes die a horrible death?
