                 Dont Grow
All she ever said was "I wanna grow up"
"I don’t wanna drink from a sippy cup!"
"I wanna be tall to reach your shoulder"
But all she ever heard was "Wait till your older"
She grew and grew just like a weed
Learning shapes and colors and how to read
She grew some more into a teen
Out all the time she was seldom seen
Knowing not she brought her family shame
Growing up too fast was her middle name
She quickly was married and out of town
Finally realizing instead of up she rather grow down
By then it was too late her body wouldn’t last
Even worse she became after Fred passed
Old and alone in her dust filled home
The only one to talk to was her garden gnome
"I grew up too fast!" she told him each day
My life flew by and now I will pay
Great memories of youth don’t crowd this mind
Just to dig up one is such a lovely find
And now I’m leaving this earth without a thing
Just as she said that she heard the doorbell ring
A preacher stood there with his hand stuck out stiff as a rod
With a smile he asked "Would you like to spend an eternity with God?"
                    Poem
This day was made with such awesome care
His own hands made it for us to share
My breath is suddenly taken away
When I open my door to this lovely day
As I listen to the birds singing their praise
I sit breathless in a hallow gaze
Sitting in silence my heart filled with joys
I am interrupted by a terrible noise
Barking dogs and screaming horns
Yelling neighbors piercing like thorns
Why? I ask ruin this beautiful day
As I kneel down and begin to pray
When will it end this suffering and blindness
How can they see themselves in your likeness
You are so awesome and love us so
When and how will these people know
You sent your son to die for us all
But we are so blind and only trip and fall
Back down on our knees we are found there so much
And you help us up again with one simple touch
Forgiveness for us is such a great gift
When we worship it is your name we lift
Finding the answers to all questions is not absurd
All we need to do is look in your word
Put my soul in your hands where it belongs
And you will help correct all my wrongs
You are the way the truth and the life...
