Wooden Shelf

This is what you can make with this tutorial (it's actually a little bigger)

I suggest you go to the bottom of the page and see what else can be done.  That way you can make up your mind before starting. I will not give the instructions for the look you will find at the bottom, but if you know your PSP then you can do it with no problems.

You will need THESE selections and pieces of wood.  They are zipped in winzip.  You will find 9 Selections pieces & 2 pieces of wood (one light and one a little darker).  Put the selections into a folder.  If you do not have a folder for selections, then make one under your PSP folder.  What I do is make a new folder under my selection's folder under PSP.  I make a new folder for each set of Selections that I download for different tutorials.  I name the folder with the name of the Person (or site) and the tutorial.  Like for this one I would make one name Sherrie Wooden Shelf.  That way I ALWAYS know who the selections belong too and what tutorial they go with.  Just my own opinion, but easier to keep track of that way:) Bring both of the JPG files up in PSP. Just put them over to side.

OK, enough about me:)  This tutorial was made from a shelf that I really did decoupage for a friend.

#1 Open a new image 600, 300 Transparent background, 16 million colors

#2 Add a New Layer (Layer, add new Raster layer, click OK)

#3 Go to Selections, Load from disk.  Navigate to the folder that you put the selections in for this tutorial.  Double click on the one that says sher_backfence1.
it will place it where it needs to go, do not move any of the pieces until it is
       called for in this tutorial.

#4 Click on the DARKER picture of the wood that came with this tutorial, Click on your copy button, or go to Edit, copy

#5 Now go back to your shelf window that has the empty selction floating in it.  Right click on the TOP of that window and choose Paste INTO Selection.

#6 Add a Drop Shadow (Effects, 3D, Drop Shadow) V&H at 2, Color is black, Opacity is 68, Blur is set at 3.5  ( you may use what ever settings you want, but remember you only want to add a little definition to each piece.

#7 Selections, load from disk, sher_frontfence2

#8 Right click on the TOP of the window and choose Paste INTO selection.

#9 Add a Drop Shadow, same settings as before

This is what you have so far, but yours is bigger, and MUCH clearer or should be anyway:)

#10 Add new layer (Layer, add new Raster layer, click OK)

#11 Go to Selections, Load from Disk, sher_leftinside3

#12 Right click on TOP of window and choose Paste INTO Selection

#12a Now we need to add a little definition to the corner.
Use your Draw tool (looks like a pencil drawing a line) Set it to Single
Line, Width is 2, with a solid line.

Set your FOREGROUND color to Black.  (left click on the first style palette under the color palette, HOLD IT until a little window pops up with 4 icons in it.  The first one is PAINT, use that one.  Use the same method to open each of the other 3 style palettes and choose the last icon on the RIGHT, that will turn them OFF/NULL.

Now draw a line from the corner out to the point, like in the example below

#13 Add the same Drop Shadow that you have been using.

#14 Go to Selections, Load from Disk, sher_rightinside4

#15 Right click on the TOP of the window and Choose Paste INTO Selection

#16 Use your Draw tool again and place a line in to add definition just like you did to the other side.

#17 Add a Drop Shadow, same settings

Now you have this, a little bigger of course:)

#18  Add New Layer (Layer, add new Raster layer, click OK)

#19  Go to Selections, Load from Disk sher_leftoutside5

#20  Right click on the TOP of the window and choose Paste INTO Selection

#21  Add your drop Shadow

#22 Go to Selections, Load from Disk, sher_fenceshelves6

#23 Add your Drop Shadow, then add the same Drop shadow again

#24 Add another Drop Shadow (yes 3 total) this time change the Verticle to -2 (minus 2)

It is coming together:)

#25  Go to Selections, Load from Disk, sher_rooffront7

#26  Right click on the TOP of the window and choose Paste INTO Selection

#27  Add TWO Drop Shadows .. REMEMBER you need to change the Verticle back to 2

#28 Add New Layer  (Layer, add new Raster layer, click OK)

#29  Go to Selections, Load from Disk, sher_lefttoproof8

#30 Go to the LIGHT piece of wood that came with the tutorial, go to EDIT, copy

#31  Now go back to your Shelf window and Right click on the TOP of the window and choose Paste INTO Selection

#32  Add TWO Drop Shadows (2, 2, 68, 3.5 black, just like the first of the tutorial)

#33 Add New Layer  (Layer, add new Raster layer, click OK)

#34  Go to Selectoins, Load from Disk, sher_frontfacing9

#35  Right click on the TOP of the window and choose Paste INTO Selection

#36 Add your Drop Shadow

#36 Add new layer (Layer, add new Raster layer, click OK)

#37 Go to Effects, 3D, CUTOUT .. use these settings.  Verticle at 2, Horizantal at -4 (minus 4), Opacity at 43, Blur at 3.8, Click OK

#38 Add new layer (Layer, add new Raster layer, click OK)

#39  Go to Cutout again, this time changing the Verticle to 4 and the Horizantal to 2, Click OK.

#40  Go to layers, Merge, Merge Visible

Now you have this, Decorate the way you want

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, I know I had fun making it:)  I can't wait to see what you do with it:)  ~Sherrie

This was made by using one picture (that I made) hit copy on it one time and then using it to
Paste INTO selection for the whole tutorial.  You could use several different pictures to get
the look that you would like for your shelf or Doll House.  A little imagination goes a long way:)
