Remember?
Once upon a a timecloud there was a ship so grand!
particoloured, painted dream boat of faerie land
ship of fools!
All around they they would dance each devine enchantment
in thier own way shared by chance happiness encanted
Happy was the land, and good the sound that grew
Then it happened that a spirit not so fair, and true
came across the sea to greet them
an angry child in a shimmering cloak of greed, and envy so vain
They welcomed him with laughter, and fine poetic games
The child grinned at this display, but inside he recoiled
simplicity was his dismay from innocence was spoiled
He held out his hand
"Good people"he cried
"I have come far to warn you!"
His words a sweet disguise, crafted, lolling elequence
part truth concealed in lies
"word,my friends has reached many a shore, tales of your great adventures
but I must say such madd display has gained you few credentails!"
"you see"he said"your tricks can turn the tide of many a day"
"but here's the biggest game of all.Do listen to what I say!"
Many an ear began to turn impressed by his proud stance
others just ignored the sound prefering just to dance
still others few began to see the ship was tilting slowly
as they ralied round these words wispered harsh, and lowly
"You're right!"they cried "We must abide!"then called for mirth, and drinking
They were so busily engaged they scarce realised the sinking
"To play these games you must have names, and finery renown. If you continue in your ways
they'll laugh you out of town!"
So they addopted attitudes,posturing,and poses
They picked the daisies from thier hats, and switched to cultured roses
And in thier race to be the finest on any sea,or land
each fool began to worry just who was in command, and indeed what kind of tricks were in the others hand
A dark suspicion ruled thier ways as they embraced these changes
for who could say what mutiny could come about from strangeness?
"Are you with us,or against us?"they challenged all around
threw overboard the mottly lot that made a different sound
So on the brink, and sure to sink they continued onward
Till one day...
