1) Framework for the Future – HCL Planning Principles: on web site “about the library”,
based on 8 core principles.
2) Framework for the Future – Capital Plan: based on principles as relates to buildings.
3) Framework for the Future – Technology Plan: currently in draft form.
4) HCL web: Book space—for people to “discuss” books online; can submit book
reviews for the catalog; relationship of online gaming to literacy for youth (12-year-olds
in HCL); intent is for the public to create Web content; the Library’s web page received
over 10 million hits in 2006.
5) Future of Horizon software: integration of technology, e.g. web & changing
technology = integrated technology. New integrated system – Evergreen—write your
own programs. Horizon will be supported, but it won’t be developed. Looking at
moving to a new system about 2011.
6) New website – 55+ on HCL for seniors.
7) Technology Training – online. Demos and interactive training, AWARE training can
be done at your desk now, tutorials.
8) HCL is interested in buying laptops for use in meeting rooms, but not circulating them
to the public. (42 month replacement cycle)
9) Bandwith is the biggest problem/challenge – capacity was doubled in January & by
end of month was at 80%, doubling again in June and for future.

Plymouth Library: JoAnn Frankena reviewed the plans for Plymouth Library re-
construction – double size, same site, 30% children, 30% teen, 40% adult space.

Minutes: Minutes of the 2/22/07 meeting at Edina Library had been distributed
previously for review. MSP: Pat Chisenhall/Bette Kluck & Cathy Fischer.

Treasurer Report: Balance 11/30/06 -- $221.17. Income: $5 dues, $0.24 interest =
current balance: $226.41. MSP report: Helen Malby/Cathy Fischer.

Motion to delay the audit report to May 2008 (due to limited financial activity) – MSP:
David Smith/Roger Burg.
