Burg Roger gave a brief history of the group including first meeting postal sent out in 1993. That first meeting was held on Sept. 15, 1993 at the Golden Valley Library where the name of the group was decided, frequency of meetings, and possible service projects. Group began meeting informally at restaurant, and then decided to meet at new/remodeled libraries. Archivers Group Activities – C. Ahrens Archivers were started under Charles Brown with volunteers to help identify the boxes of old photos/slides, and index the oral history videos documenting the history of HCL. With many retirements of long time staff, it was determined that the story of HCL history needed to be preserved for future needs. The historical collection is available to all staff for publicity, community celebrations, library anniversaries, etc. At the Feb. 2006 meeting Sandy Louis reported that the group has completed photo identification and file organization, the utility cabinet has been organized and indexed, scrapbooks still need to be organized, old clippings have been culled and organized by library and/or subject, and 17 titles of the video histories have been transferred to DVD (approximately one-third of the total). Volunteers are needed to log the history DVDs as a future project. Displays – P. Mattill Three displays in case outside Director’s Office: 1) Libraries that don’t exist any longer; 2) Summer programs; 3) History of HCL catalog. Biggest complaint is that the case is not in a high traffic location; looking into moving case to Administration reception area since the doors to Admin are now locked. Next display is Bookmobile, need more realia on any topic if anyone has. Phyllis Mattill is the contact person for displays. Bylaws – review why/contents – L. Engberg During discussions involving Archive activities, current HCL administrative staff requested that OW become more of a formal group with structure to facilitate communication. Specifics: Officers will be presented as a slate, and then those officers will agree on which position will be held. Review of each article for discussion. Slate of Officers: Linda Engberg presented slate that has agreed to serve: Cindy Ahrens, Roger Burg, Linda Engberg, Pat Kulseth, Sandy Louis. L.Engberg asked for any additional nominations from the floor. Slate was MSP (P.Chisenhall/P.Mattill). Funds and Dues K. Steward reported that the organization has about $200 from past donations. About 210 items were mailed out, postage and copying cost of $135.31. Dues to be $5 annually were MSP (Elaine Weber/Helen McNulty). Future Programs Bob Rohlf has contacted MPL about a special tour for Officially Withdrawn, in Sept. 2006.
