Marconi 78C
- Produced: France (Chatou - Seine et Oise now Yvelines) in
1958.
- Obtained: bought at a flea market for 300FF (~$60) in
1992.
- Features:
- 2 speakers.
- phono player on top.
- rotating ferrite antenna built-in.
- tone control (treble).
- Bands:
- FM 87 to 101 Mhz
- SW 5.8 to 18.2 Mhz (16 to 49 m)
- MW 523 to 1620 Khz (185 to 570 m)
- LW 150 to 300 Khz (1000 to 2000 m)
- Condition:
- Works but I needed to change all (~10) wax paper
caps.
- Phono player doesn't work.
- Cabinet is in very bad shape.

- ECC85/6AQ8 (FM osc+mix)
- ECH81/6AJ8 (AM osc+mix/ FM 1st IF)
- EF89/6DA6 (AM 1st IF/FM 2nd IF)
- EABC80/6AK8 (AM/FM det+AF)

- EZ80/6V4 (rectifier)
- EM80/6BR5 (magic eye)
- Comments:
- This set has the same wood cabinet and phono
player than the Marconi 66C.
It was the FM version of the product line made by
Pathe-Marconi in the late 50's. My plan is to
swap the cabinets between 66C and 78C to get a
great condition FM set.
