My Private Kitten Hole continued:

We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time.
T. S. Eliot, The Little Gidding

Ever impressed by spiral stairs. The half-forgotten, in my century-old college; the half-imagined, as in pictures of Paris opera houses; even the one visualized solely in the mind, as in Li Bei's poem. Long and winding, they are fantasized to be mysterious pathways which lead to the sky. Such is the spiral stairway in myths, fairy tales and literature.
The Stairway of the mind ...
