A Chance For Love

It was so close, within my grasp,
But fear, kept me from sharing,
To love her back, was all she asked,
But pain kept me from caring.

Don't ask me why, I couldn't reach,
For the love that she was giving,
I've heard the words and read the speech,
I just missed, that part of living.

The passion there, inside her heart,
Was pure and understanding,
But, the things they tore apart,
For me, was too demanding.

Such love as this, I can't receive,
Because of such emotion,
I don't deserve, you can believe,
Such, a sincerely meant devotion.

I can't break, these chains that bind,
And hold me in my sorrow,
I only hope, someday to find,
An answer in the morrow.

For a very special lady, whom I could not grant what she wanted most from me,
Love.
