Nothing To Gain

In days gone by, so long ago,
You had a chance for peace.
But those days, are gone for good,
Your pain will now, increase.

Some time ago, you had the chance,
To try and make amends,
You've lost that opportunity,
And that is where it ends.

You didn't see the tears, she shed,
Because you were not there,
You didn't see the pain she felt,
To her, you didn't care.

You didn't ask about her,
And for years you haven't tried,
And when she's asked, about you,
She says, her mama died.

Too much pain this child endures,
Because you haven't cared,
And if you try to hurt her,
I hope your way is snared.

For years, you've lived in hiding,
And never tried to find,
A way to tell her, anything,
To ease her your troubled mind.

Take heed, to words of warning,
For if you break her heart,
There's nothing that can hide you,
From the wrath that you will start.
