Jesus Christ

WHO IS IT?

Many years ago I took a photograph using a box 120 brownie camera. I was trying to photograph a snowscape through a window of our home at the time in Waiouru. We lived there from 1955 to 1960 and it was our first experience of snow. The above picture is the result of that shot. At first I dismissed the picture as a failed snap and thought that I had merely photographed a patch of snow on the outside of the window. I thought no more about it until some time later someone said they could see a face in the picture. Another careful look and sure enough I could see it too.

HOW DO YOU SEE IT, AND CAN YOU NAME THE PERSON PHOTOGRAPHED???

NOW SCROLL DOWN AND SEE HOW GOOD YOUR GUESS WAS.

In the right-hand picture I have erased the background to make the picture, as I see it, clear.

ADDENDUM, 13 DECEMBER 2004.

Below is an extract from the Sunday News "have your say" column of 12/12/2004.

There is no explanation that I can give that will account for these two pictures being produced in different places at different times.

Last night I searched through old photos and found the one I had copied above and another one exactly the same. I was puzzeled about the two photos for a while until my wife reminded me that after shifting to Norsewood in 1960 she remembered I had copies taken from the original negative to prove some point or other with friends.

The back of the two photos are endorsed with the word Velox inside an oval ring. I take this to be the type of photo paper used at that time. One of them also carries a very faint rubber stamp impression, probably the developers ID, which I cannot read but which other younger than me keen-sighted members of my family are sure they can see the word "Dannevirke". If this is correct then this indicates to me that the picture was printed in my town of Dannevirke.

We are now searching through a mass of old records to see if we can find the original photo or negative. If we do I will record the fact here.

An entry dated 16/7/03 on page 3 of my guest book for this site says that an identical photo was taken in Vancouver, BC, in 1926. If anyone knows where this picture is I would appreciate email advice please as to where I might view it.

A Google search for "jesus in the snow" brought up the following picture on a website by Philip Noble. The dialogue on this page makes a visit to it worthwhile.

I wonder how many other identical photos have been taken around the world at various times?
