Patria Post - Offís postíe Patriaë

ramarajyaDak

Welcome to the official Patria Post page.  Although e-mail is the preferred method of communication in the Inner Realm, Patria Post (known in Sanskrit as Ramrajya-Dak) has been issuing postage stamps since the middle of the 19th century, when the micronation was still known as the Republic of Castoria.

On this page you will find a sampling of Patria's recent postage stamp issues.  The stamps are approximately actual size, when viewed on a standard 15-inch monitor.  Click on the stamp to view an enlarged illustration.  After viewing the enlargement, click the "BACK" button on your browser to return to this page.

Note that the denomination of 15 Patrienish Rupees (about $0.40 U.S.) was the standard first-class rate in Patria until hiked to 17 rupees effective Feb. 1, 2003. Patria Post had requested a RsPat. 17.5 rate, but a congressional filibuster knocked half a rupee off the proposed rate hike.  Another rate hike of a couple of rupees, to RsPat. 19, was passed in 2008. With Patria's economy tanking and the value of the rupee falling, yet another rate hike to 21 rupees took effect Jan. 1, 2009. All stamps bear the Sanskrit name of Patria, Ramrajya, in Devanagari script.

Definitive (regular issue) stamps portray various Hindu deities: Ganesha, Shiva, Krishna & Radha, Durga, and of course Patria's ceremonial Queen and Head of State, Saraswati.

Ammachi       Karunamayi

As incarnations of the Divine Mother, both Mata Amritanandamayi and Karunamayi have been honoured with stamp issues.

Dadaji    Swami Kripalvananda     Yogi Amrit Desai

A series of commemoratives illustrate the Kripalu Yoga lineage: Dadaji, Swami Kripalvanand (Bapuji) and Yogi Amrit Desai (Gurudev).  There are some former devotees of Yogi Desai who would like to see his picture in the U.S. Post Office, although not on a stamp :)

LOSS

In December 2000, this commemorative stamp was issued to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the League of Secessionist States (LOSS).
