Red-breasted robins and blue jays, Working with their mates, To build their summer homes. As the noisy woodpecker, Pecks out a tune, On the telephone pole. Big grey mockingbirds, Flying from tree to tree, Mimicking all the other birds. Squirrels scampering, Upon the house tops, And climbing the oak trees. While on the ground, Cats quietly wait, For a mistake, So they will have a meal. -Patricia Lawrence
