Isaac was my second Shar-Pei baby and my BIGGEST baby! He was five years old when I lost him.
Unfortunately Isaac had Familial Shar-Pei Fever which is a genetic disease in some Shar-Pei. The disease does not always, but can lead to kidney failure as a result of Renal Amyloidosis and with Isaac that was the case. In February of 1997 he was diagnosed as being in kidney failure. He was a tough guy though and hung in there until June 18th. He was hospitalized in February which was very hard on him (and me). After that I decided that I would not put him through that again and gave him his I.V. treatments at home whenever he needed them. I did all I could for Isaac, but of course in the end it wasn't enough. That February I vowed to never leave him again and I didn't - he died peacefully in my arms knowing how much I loved him. Losing Isaac is the hardest thing I've ever been through in my life. I still miss him so much, but I know he will always be here with me - in my heart.
