One of my revolutionary war patriots was Silas Hales (Hailes), b 1786 Westmoreland Co. VA, d. 1846 Darlington, SC. Family history has his first wife as being Syntha(?) Alexander from Mecklenburg Co., and being married possible in Anson Co. where he first
volunteered for service. 3, possibly 4, where of this union: John, Henry, Chapman, and the 4th could be a daughter, Syntha. Story has it that when Syntha Alexander died in 1805, the 4 children moved to the Mississippi Territory. Henry went on to read l
w and became friends with Joseph Davis, eldest brother of Jefferson Davis. Henry was one of the first State Rep. when Miss. became a state in 1817. I am a descentant of John who was an 1812 veteran.
I have traveled to SC and NC to research the marriage of Silas to Syntha, but can not find a reference to a Syntha Alexander. With the name Alexander a common name from the southern part of NC, this has made my search even more difficult. Silas remarrie
in 1822 to a Spicy Johnson and it was she that received his war pension until she died. They are buried in Darlington Co.SC.
I would appreciate any info or even a direction to look in.

Hi Donna, I was searching the internet for Pattersons and came across your website. My g-grandparents ROBERT MELTON PATTERSON and OLA ELLEN TODD are buried in the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery in Conway, SC. ROBERT MELTON PATTERSON'S parents are sup
