Thoughts At Cypress Gardens
Ref: NKJ Matt: 27: 27-54
Mark: 15: 13-39
John: 19: 15-24
We went to Cypress Gardens twice
My sister Verona and Me
We saw a bush called "Crown of Thorns"
Then I thought of Galilee.
I thought of how the savior walked there
How He prayed at Gethsemane
How the tiny babe was born at Bethlehem
Born to die for ones like you and me
Yes! they spit on Him, made fun of Him
this man, God's only Son
The mob yelled "crucify Him
"Nailed Him to the cross "It is done"
They had whipped Him until His back was cut
Shoved a crown of thorns on His head
They made a sign "King of the Jews"
So alone,---then our Savior was dead.
The earth quakedand the rocks were split
The huge veil in the temple, torn in two
From the top right down to the bottom
He had suffered there for me and you
Yes! We spit on Him, make fun of Him
This Man, God's only Son
We, the mob, still yell "crucify Him"
By our living nail Him to the cross, "It is done"
The words we let come out of our mouth
'Don't 'build Him up' - what a loss
with our actions in our daily lives
We again nail Him to the cross
on my knees, I came back to the present
Saw tiny flowers of vivid red
Felt the wood, the many sharp thorns-
Reminded me of the blood He shed.
But Oh! What joy! He rose again
Because of God's great plan
He does "forgive and forget" if we ask
No matter how bad, "Each of us can"
He made each one of us so special
No matter what we turned out to be
We have the choice of right or wrong
It is all up to you and to me
November 1986?
