The CRASH
Page!!!
Sooner or later ALL airplanes crash!!   There are numerous reasons that crashes may occur.
These include, but are not limited to:   structural failure,  acts of GOD,  radio interference, mid-air collisions, equipment failure, and most common, PILOT ERROR.
(nobody wants to admit  to that though !!!)

This page is dedicated to the memory of those fine flying machines which have made our spirits soar, only to crush them again, as the aircraft has an unsheduled, abrupt, contact with mother Earth.    (When this happens, the pilot is the one wiping a tear from his eye)  I will try to at the very least, list the plane, cause of rekitting,  prognosis (whether or not it can be rebuilt)
and if we are real lucky, before and after pictures, (and maybe a video too!!!)
who will be the seventh bonehead of the new millenium ?
Well it looks like Patrick Deuser  gets the honor of the first listing and bonehead award for crunching the fazer in his truck.  It seems he had to slam on the brakes and the plane slammed into the front of the bed of his truck and his big old heavy flightbox slammed into the plane, crushing it!  What a way to go!!!   The plane is being rebuilt, but will feature a different color scheme as the hobby shop didnt stock the original colors.
Looks Like Patrick gets the second award too!!  This time for parking the old reliable Sig Kavalier with the limbo pole stuck in the leading edge of the wing at the Jayhawk Model Master fun fly.  It seems that the plane had already landed and was doing its rollout when SMACK!! it slammed into the pole.  This one has already been repaired and the plane is back in service.
The third bonehead goes to Daryl Shutt for crashing his Contender in Lawrence.  Im not real sure why this one went in, but after it did, the battery shorted out and things got real hot in a hurry.  The wood was scorched, and wires melted.  Its a good thing he didnt put the remains in his vehicle right away or it too might have gone up in smoke.   The plane is now rebuilt and flying again as good as ever.
The fourth bonehead award belongs to Chris'snaproll' Kloepper for snapping his funfly raven so much that the wings folded up.  All Chris had to say about this was that the plane wasn't built right.  I believe he has acquired another kit and will begin building it soon.
The fifth bonehead award goes to club member Gary Rauckman for having not one, not two, but three aircraft meet their premature demise at the Jayhawk Model Masters fall fly in.   First there was his hot little yellow biplane that he was intending to crash into the outhouse up there, but a structural failure planted it before he could get there.  Then he was flying Tony Holaday's Sig wonder (also intending to crash it into the outhouse) when at full throttle on his first pass at the outhouse the wing came off before he got to the outhouse.  The fuselage executed beautiful torque rolls before drilling into the runway near Gary.  As if that weren't enough, Gary then flew his BVM Bandit to wow the crowd.  The pipe broke, the engine flamed out on takeoff and the plane went down pretty hard.  Gary says it might be rebuildable but will take a LOT of time.
And number six goes to Gary too for crashing his beloved Ducted fan enforcer.  Not really sure what happened here but I saw the carnage in the back of Gary's truck and it was BAD!  October was indeed a bad month for Gary.   Better luck next year.  I bet he'll have to build all winter to fill his hangar back up!
