| We walked into another room for privacy. Howie looked to see if anyone else was around & then closed the door. He turned to Kevin & me. “You guys, word leaked out about Sarah coming to work for us this afternoon.” “What? They weren’t suppose to find out.” Kevin replied. “What do you guys mean?” “Well Sarah, we decided it was for your best interest that we keep your joining of our record company a secret so other companies wouldn’t think about trying to persuade you to join their company. Unfortunately it backfired & word leaked out about it. I’m pretty sure you’ll be asked to join another company.” “I wouldn’t leave you guys. You’ve done too much for me already. I’m sure everything will be just fine.” “Sarah, it’s happened to us before. Don’t think it’s going to be easy.” “I didn’t say it was going to be easy, but I did say I was going to stay with your company.” She said as she left the room. The boys followed her back to the party. By the end of the party all of the men Sarah had met & Howie were drunk. She laughed at them as she grabbed Howie’s arm. “Come on Howie let’s get you out of here,” she said as she took Howie’s car keys from his pocket. She drove them to her home & had him stay the night there, hoping he would be better the next morning. |
