Peacock Avenue are an original  mod influenced band, who formed in the summer of '03 in the West Midlands.
The band started when front man Mark put an ad in the local rag searching for likeminded musicians.  Lewis answered his call for a guitarist, and turned out to be the right man for the job.  John later added himself to the peacock two, and then there were three!  Peacock Avenue {a name derived from a road they first began rehearsing on} were now born into the world of Rock N Roll.
Together 3 years, the band have now moved out of the West Midlands to London, where they have set up their own studio and hope to build on the foundations that were laid back home.  Since forming, the band have laid solid foundations with many high profile support slots.  They supported cult mod band
Secret Affair, and are also featured on their recent live DVD, as the Affair were so impressed with the Peacock Avenue set.  One of the band's first major support slots was supporting former frontman of 90's band Dodgy; Nigel Clark, who's music has had a major influence on the band, in the local city of Wolverhampton.  Prior to this support slot the band visited Clark's studio where they recorded a 5 track e.p titled Hijack Sessions [review].  During the Summer of '05, the band also had repeated support slots with Casbah Club, a band featuring Simon Townshend {The Who}, Bruce Foxton {The Jam}, and Bruce Watson and Mark Brzezicki of Big Country fame.  The trio also featured at Northampton's Pavillions festival in the same summer, on the bill with the likes of Scottish rockers Biffy Clyro, Nigel Clark and Blind Jackson.  At the beginning of '05 the band were also invited to take part in the recording of the Mod Aid 20 single, in the heavy company of their biggest heroes from both the past and present.  These included Ronnie Wood, Steve Craddock, Ian Paige, P.P Arnold, Chris Farlowe and Mark Joseph, to name a few.  The results of this weekend can be found in our merchandise section or at www.modaid20.org.
The band have received rave reviews from many sections of the music world, and their song Mean Mrs Martyr {feat. on the Hijack Sessions e.p} has been featured on Biff Bang Pow Records' latest compilation 'Shout'.  The same song featured on SohoStrut's playlist during '05 with the likes of The La's, Oasis, and the Futureheads.  Radio Airplay for the band came when the band's 'The Who' meets the 'The Rolling Stones' mash up 'Kissed the Gun' reached #1 on Scottish radio station FnR, thanks to votes from Scottish listeners.
Their song 'Mean Mrs Martyr' was also included on '
Shout', 'Biff Bang Pow Records' lastest release.
The band's main inspiration came from the classic bands of the 60's and 70's, in particular the likes of The Who, The Rolling Stones and The Small Faces.  The Kinks, The Jam and The Beatles have also had a huge bearing on the band's sound and style.  More modern influences comes from the bands the members grew up listening to such as Ocean Colour Scene, Cast, Oasis, Dodgy and Paul Weller.
The band's sound has a blend of all of these influences, and is topped off by one of the most exciting live performances around.
