Sunday River, Bethel Maine
February 2000

The skiing that we did this year was tremendous while it lasted.  A foot and a half of new snow fell in the two weeks before we got there.  By the end of the week a heat wave and showers severely reduced the snowpack and the ski conditions deteriorated to mashed potatoes.

When we arrived a fresh snowpack and powder awaited us.

This is what it looked like 6 days later

Our first outing was cross country skiing in the new snow.  You can see the mountains in the background are currently being snowed upon.  This mountain is the back side of Sunday River  Ski Resort.

The snowmobile trails all around the farm provide a good area for cross country skiing
