This site looks at the role of the 89th Illinois Volunteer Infantry in the Battle of Pickett's Mill, which occurred in the vicinity of Dallas, Georgia, on May 27th, 1864. A young Union lieutenant, Ambrose Bierce, later wrote an account of this battle which he called "The Crime at Pickett's Mill."
