Not surprisingly, given their cold-heartedness, furriers took advantage of a country shaken by the tragedy of 9/11 to promote their cruelly obtained merchandise as "comfort wear." While Americans slowly recover from 9/11, the attack on animals packed into fur farms or dying in traps continues.

PETA- You DARE, you dare to compare a stupid rodent to the horrible act of 9/11? You're all sick. Go back into the hole you slithered out of.

Hey PETA- Once I caught a fish on a hook- then I hacked it up into pieces- battered it, fried it then I ATE it! And you know what- it was the best fish I ever had. I even ate it's unborn babies. Yummy.

When Anna Wintour got a dead raccoon dumped on her lap by an angry anti-fur protester, she should have learned that wearing the pelts of animals who were cruelly gassed, strangled, or electrocuted is a big mistake. Yet the creepy Cruella continues to push fur in the pages of Vogue.

On April 24, 1996, PETA's Ingrid Newkirk appeared on the television show Day & Date opposing sport fishing. Her arguments began by eliciting sympathy for fish as living creatures who suffocate when taken out of the water. She then said that fish were unhealthful food because they contain mercury and other environmental contaminants. Her ultimate solution was for people to "go vegetarian." Her opponent, a television talk-show hostess pressed her into acknowledging the PETA creed. She recalled an on-air encounter with a PETA representative where a scenario was presented in which her daughter needed a vital organ of a beloved household pet to survive. The ethical question centered around placing a value on the life of a child versus a household pet. The PETA representative held that the child has no more value than the pet, reflecting the Taoist view that all life is equally sacred.

It's clear from last week's Earth Liberation Front arson in Utah and the recent arrest of seven SHAC (Stop Huntington Animal Cruelty) militants that animal-rights violence is an escalating threat. In 2002 Congressional testimony, FBI special agent James Jarboe described animal liberation and environmental extremism as "the most dangerous domestic terrorist threat to the country." Now a top FBI official has warned that these thugs are targeting more than a thousand companies. At a recent biotechnology conference, the supervisory special agent assigned to the FBI's domestic terrorism operations unit said that his agency has obtained a list of 1,100 businesses that animal-rights extremists plan to target. "As far as I know," Agent Phil Celestini warned, "every U.S. company attending this conference is on that list." According to the San Francisco Chronicle: Celestini noted that some eight years ago, anti-government militias and white supremacists were America's most dangerous domestic terrorism threat. Today, eco-terrorists and animal-rights zealots are the big problem. They are indeed a very big problem. Take the example of federal fugitive Daniel Andreas San Diego, who has been featured on America's Most Wanted and is believed to be behind the 2003 bombings of the SHAC-targeted Chiron and Shaklee Corporations. One of those bombings included a "secondary device," timed to go off once fire and rescue workers arrived on the scene. A note claiming responsibility for one of San Diego's alleged bombings coldly threatens: "We will now be doubling the size of every device we make. Today it is 10lbs, tomorrow 20 ... until your buildings are nothing more than rubble." Targeted companies know that human lives are at stake. Animal-rights violence promoter Jerry Vlasak has advocated the murder of scientists engaging in life-saving research that requires the use of animals. According to Vlasak: "I don't think you'd have to kill -- assassinate -- too many ... I think for 5 lives, 10 lives, 15 human lives, we could save a million, 2 million, 10 million non-human lives."

For instance, when PETA learned that the photographs of Holocaust victims displayed in its roving exhibit -- entitled “The Holocaust on Your Plate” -- included Nobel Peace Prize winner Elie Wiesel as a young man at the Buchenwald concentration camp, it shrugged. “Six million people died in concentration camps,” laments Ingrid Newkirk, “but six billion broiler chickens will die this year in slaughterhouses.”
