about Ja, or Lia or Li-chan is a twenty year old bespectacled and shy person who thinks life can be quite a bummer sometimes. Well, not life. Just Reality. She speaks English, French and Mandarin (but can't read it to her great despair), and has a passion for Japanese animation and mangas. Despite speculations, she is neither senile nor does she bite. Mad, on the other hand, is a altogether another matter. What else? Oh. And she has the bad habit of tripping over things and has frequent bouts of memory loses. Figures.

manga story I'll Generation Basket - by Asada Hiroyuki. Story about two basketball players (you wouldn't have guessed huh? ^.~) Tachibana Akane and Hiiragi Hitonari, their friendship, other friends and slowly growing basket ball team. quest there isn't a goal as per say, at least not initially. It's more psychological and focused on the developments of the two main characters and others surrounding them. Basket plays a central role of course, but contrary to Slam Dunk, there isn't an immediate focus on winning a certain championship. friends lots. there's of course the other team members like self-titled 'Big Magnum' Harumoto (who has a similar hairstyle to Bokuto no Ryu of Shaman King >.<), replacing captain Kanemoto, flamboyant woman coach Minefuji, sweet Sumirei, her nosy friend Yuka <grins>, and others. Thinks It's a beautiful manga. Esthetically, it's very fluid, clear and pretty. Asada has a drawing style one can only envy ... the story is quite slow-paced but the characters grow onto you. How to put it ... there is a certain nostalgia which imprints the whole manga, making it very poetic. Don't be put off by the beginning, it's worth persevering ^.^

23.08.02 <solemn look> ay ay cap'tain, we shall not venture in such places then <grins>
I think having to pack is sucking my power to blab nonsense dry ;p it's been the second day in the row I have nothing to say to myself. And *that* trust me, is a sign of a *great* internal problem ;p
Am I <gasp> actually starting to become a bit normal? Hmm ... I doubt it.
I miss having the internet connection in my room. I can't download mangas or read them online as regularly as before! The only good news (or consolation) I have is that I discovered I can order french mangas online! gives me hope on a rainy day ^.^
I had a nightmare involving my ex-history teacher turning into a monster the other night. Talk about childhood traumatism o.O And to think ordinary people dream of vampires and gouls and werewolves <shakes head>
22.08.02 Thanks for the nice welcome and the compliment Eve! I like your newest layout too! <grins> ... can you believe I already finished half of the chocolates?? me is really a chocoholic person ;p
I'm in the middle of packing so I can ship my stuff back home by next week, and my room looks more like a warzone then the crammy little place it is >.<
I hate packing.
Good news is, Ce-chan's coming back this saturday from Japan so I'll be able to hear all about her adventures on sunday! <laughs>
Hmmm .... not much news if not <chews on her pen> it's been a pretty boring day today but then, what else is new?
<thoughtful look> guess it's time for a little test then ... <grins>
![]() Which Fruits Basket Character are you?
Kisa Sohma? o.O?? Who's she? (that's the problem when you stop a manga/anime in the middle <sweatdrops>) <goes checking out character info on the net>
Okayyy .... I guess it does sound a bit like me kinda .... hmm ... I'll have to ask opinions on that <starts sweatdropping even more>
Thank goodness I didn't get Kagura (although she *is* technically in number 3 position ^^;;;). And I didn't even know any of them apart from Tohru and Kagura too ;p
Well, here are what I got in the top 5: 1. Kisa Sohma 2. Tohru Honda 3. Kagura Sohma 4. Hiro Sohma 5. Ritsu Sohma
... can you believe I got Kyou as my verrrrry last? <grins> guess it means that you don't have to resemble your favorite character to like them ;p
20.08.02 bwahahahaha!!! new layout!! <maniacal laughter>
....
don't mind me, I think I finally blew a fuse somewhere. Still, dontcha think Akane is so cool looking?
You can get some of the scanlations at Mangascreener if my memory serves me right.
Lots of thanks to the french site Mangajima for the beautiful picture. It's a great site (if you read french of course), for general infos on animes, and their rotating gallery always has good quality pictures. Thanks goes to nocturna.net also for her spiffy brushes without which this layout wouldn't have been possible.
Yeah, I know it's kinda grungy looking but I though it went well with the style of the picture no? ^^;;
In any case, I'm back from my holidays! Waaaaahhhh I wanna go back, it was sooooo fun! I don't wanna be stuck all alone in London again? <--- Lia going back into infancy stage
I visited one of my friends a few days in Germany, in a small university town called Tubingen, with her mum and we had so much fun! The mum is so adorable! My friend too of course, but then, if she wasn't, she wouldn't be my friend now would she? ^.^
<blinks>
Why are you looking at me like that? Are you friends detestable, horrible and not fun? <grins>
No right?
Anyway, the mum rented a car and we visited lots of places like the Hohenzollern castle (beautiful view), and small little villages we passed on our way to Strasbourg ... which is in France but we drove all the way there, through the Black Forest (magnificient), and basically circulated a bit everywhere in the south of Germany, in the region of Batten-Wuttenberg.
... i can't count the times we had to ask for directions though ^^;; if there is one thing I can say, it's that German indication signs do *not* work. For a country with the reputation of being very logic, this is seriously abnormal. Lemme tell you, we have the dead suspicion that it's traps placed to confused poor tourists so as to not make jams in the circulation. Yessir ye, the honest truth.
On the other hand, German people, are really very helpful ^.^ Well in general, and I think mostly the older generation (drunk youngsters do *not* count, no matter which country you are in). I mean, they really try to *explain* you when you ask for directions ... even if you can't speak their language! Still, it's amazing how you can understand gestures and words when you are asking for directions ^.^
Oh, and their eating portions are simply enormous! o.O How can they finish their food? I certainly couldn't! Very nice though, I tasted lotsa different cuisines ... not simply German ones.
Ah, we had crazy times. Singing in the car, getting lost regularly <winks>, looking at the *beautiful* countryside, eating .... I took at least 2 kg if my balancing scale says right <snifs>
Then, went back to Belgium with my friend's mum and had lots of fun there too, and ate and ate and ate ..... ^^;; And she bought for me a big box of Belgium chocolates! I simply adore her hehehehe ... ^.^
And I even managed to buy a few mangas. Well, just three volumes of Detective Conan but it's still better then nothing right? ^.^ One thing good with Conan, you can buy any volume numbers since the books can be read on the whole seperately.
Conan mangas apart, I compensated for the lack of manga variety by buying French comic books. Anyone heard of a french comic book called "Asterix and Obelix"? It's funny, cool and I used to read it when I was younger so I bought a few of my favorite stories. <satisfied grin>
Now, I'm back in rainy London ... waaaahhh!! <--- Lia going into a crisis again ^^;;
One amazing thing is that all throughout my stay, there was SUCH a beautiful weather!! Sun and all that. Now, it's gray again ... even at their place. Guess the weather's telling me, yup, vacations' over. Pah. <pouts>
Still, one consolation is that I got Ce-chan's postcards!! <grins>
Ce-chan, thanks for the postcards from Japan! They are sooooo droolable!!! I adore you too <grins> (yup, Li-chan is declaring her flame to all her friends and people she loves tonight <winks>). I was amazed at the sheer number of postcards I received! And here I was cursing you because you never replied your emails <winks>. And of *course* I'll go with you to Japan next time if we have the occasion, then we can go manga shopping together! I'm glad you're having such a great time ^.^, and yup, in 5 years time, it's ours for sure *grins*
<looks up at the entry>
Wow, that's a pretty consistent entry for today isn't it? Just like German food <winks>
Ah, kidding, I hope nobody takes offense. Germany's a beautiful country and if I had the occasion to, I'd visit it again ^.^
Well, better go and start doing some packing now.
Yup, Reality's calling at me again ;p
What?
Lia: Yeah, yeah, coming Reality! ;p |
