I am a 33 year old American living in the Washington, DC area. This website was created mainly for me to record some of my experiences. On the following pages you can find lots of pictures from my life and my travels. The section on Finland is larger than the others as I spent the last three years living there. In addition to the pictures, you can find descriptions about Finnish culture and life in Finland.

I have an MBA majoring in International Business from the Helsinki School of Economics and a B.Sc. in Marine Transportation from the US Merchant Marine Academy. An interesting and very useful combination.

There has been no end of anti-Bush material out on the internet and broadcast by the media. So I thought I would share with you the reasons why I cast my vote to re-elect President Bush for four more years. Are you rooting for the other guy? Have no fear, The page is pro-Bush, not anti-Kerry. (He is not mentioned here.)

Finland
My life currently is centered in Finland. There are many pictures about life here during both the summer, winter, and everything in between. There are also some writings on Finnish culture. I have been told that this section gives a good impression about Finland. If you have any questions about living in Finland, please ask me. I know the answer!

Estonia
Finland's neighbor to the south. The Capital, Tallinn, has been a free-time destination of mine for years. The old city of Tallinn is beautiful.

Austria
In August of 1999 I went to Vienna, Austria for a four day vacation. Here are some pictures of the trip and of my friends Barbara and Tero.

Russia (coming soon)
In October of 1999, I spent a week in St. Petersburg, Russia. This trip more than met my expectations. It was an unforgettable week. The city is beautiful and colorful. Even though most of the people did not speak English, they were very friendly, including the members of the Mafia. (Well they looked like Mafia members)

Italy
I was in Rome over New Years 98-99. It was an excellent vacation from the cold of Finland. You could not avoid ancient sites even if you tried.

Singapore
Singapore was my last port of call while on the Silas Bent. I spent two weeks here working and relaxing. It was a very interesting place. Even with all of the rules and severe punishments for breaking them, I was able to have some fun.

Charleston
I lived in Charleston, South Carolina, from September, 1995 through December 1997. While there I worked for a shipping company. My office was located inside the Sea-Land Wando Container Terminal. It was a great location as I was able to meet with a number of my sailing friends as their ships visited the port.

New York and Kings Point
Kings Point is the location of the US Merchant Marine Academy. I was a student there for four long years. It is one of the US Federal Academies. You might recognize the names of some of the other schools, West Point, Annapolis... I was a student there for four long years. One hobby I had while attending the academy was sailing on the M/V MARINER. New York is where I grew up. Not in the city, but 40 minutes to the east, on Long Island. However I have included pictures from Manhattan on my NY page.  New pictures of me in NY during Summer 2001.

Washington, D.C.
The capital of the United States. Very different from the capitals of Europe.

Ships
Pictures of the ships I have sailed on, the cargo we have carried, and the places I have visited. I have also placed some of the maritime related pictures that I have taken while traveling as a "normal" person / passenger. During the summer of 2000, I attended some refresher training which included Marine Firefighting, and Survival Training.

Panama
Panama is the country in Central America (Half the country is in South America,) is where the Panama Canal is located. I spent two weeks there, three days of which actually consisted of work.

America's Worst Government Agency
The Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services. I put this after the joke section as they are truly the ass-end of the government. A true joke. I am not talking about the guys at the airport. They areon the ball. I am referring to the group that works behind the scenes, dis-servicing our nation's immigrants. If you happen to be part of that agency and feel offended, well too bad, if I had my way, you would all be fired and put in jail. Let the Department of State take over your duties. They know what they are doing.
