Marker Dedication

September 18, 2004
Left: September 2004, The Battery's first official duty was that of firing a cannon salute at the Burr's Ferry Historic Site in Vernon Parish. The site, which belongs to the Louisiana Division, Sons of Confederate Veterans, was placed on the Nat'l Register of Histtric Places and the plaque was dedicated that day.  Left to right, Dennis "Lijh" Smith, Timothy Chapman, Charles "Pelican" Lauret and Chad Soileau.

This event was put on by Acadian Village and the Sons of Confederate Veterans to raise money for the Louisiana Association of Retarded Citizens.

Washington, La Catfish Festival

March 19-20, 2005


The Pelican Battery and the Mouton Camp 778 of the Sons of Confederate Veterans provided a living history weekend and reenactment at the Catfish Festival.  At left, the Battery pulled it's Parrott in the Parade that rolled down Main Street.
