So much of the world's activity is fol de rol.
As Shakespeare would put it, "signifying nothing".
And as others put it, "mere nonsense".
With some, it's habit, and whenever they can
they grab it, indulging in a pass-time
leading them not out to new vistas,
but in, to imagined blisstas.
While much of the world
starves for food and folderol,
the rest eat and drink
and watch Mary, or something scary
to goosepimple in their comfort.
Meanwhile, those in higher echelons
plan ulterior forms of folderol
to their nefarious ends,
from wars to ecomomic skullduggery,
calculated to keep the civilized world
in their easy chairs,
or on the battlefront,
unaware of the subtleties
of higher, coldly-calculated folderol,
while the poor misguided masses
search soul and body futilely
for their fancied forms
of folderol.
