Syrian collaborator JOUMBLATT called, the morning of august the 13th, for a journalist meeting in the area of Souk el-Gharb "liberated" from the lebanese army "occupation".Strangely he didn't attend the meeting and journalists visited Souk el-Gharb in the company of lebanese officers and soldiers.But where was JOUMBLATT....



Commander of the lebanese army, general MICHEL AOUN was always in contact with the troops at the front and he talked several times with the soldiers during the battle.



A lebanese officer who commanded the battle, described it as an example of, how courageous and professionals limited troops won over unlimited fighters.



JOUMBLAT'S militia refused to receive the corpse of its men from the lebanese red cross.



Enemy casualties were the followings:


Syrian troops : -22 killed-15 tanks-30 trucks-50 cannons-unknown number of death and injuries around the cannons destroyed

P.S.P : -46 killed-180 injured-

P.C : -2 killed-8 injured-

Plestinians : -45 killed and injured-


The battle and the victory of Souk el-gharb was welcomed with enthusiastim from the TRUE lebanese people who knew that the fight for the lost freedom is long and difficult and they must depend on themselves to reach the final VictorY
