INDIANA NIKE MISSILE SITES

The Nike program was ended by the military in 1974 and forever by the Strategic Arms Limitation Treaty, but the history lives on at crumbling (or converted) sites testifying to a time when the US prepared for imminent attack from Soviet aircraft. Nike anti-aircraft missiles were stationed in rings around major metropolitan and industrial centers across the nation ready to fire upon enemy planes using conventional and nuclear warheads.
