ADVENTURE GEAR See Tom Calhoun below. ALEXANDER, SCOTT Scott makes those jerry cans that everyone raves about. "Here is the low-down on what I'm making-- Jerry cans- Solid, cast urethane with removable cap, chain lanyard. Painted OD, but will do Tan on request. $11 each, $10 each for 3 or more. I make these in batches, but will make large runs (10 or more) to order if someone wants to wait as temperature and my spare time can affect how fast I can make them. I am in the process of making additional molds so the availablility of these might not be as bad as it has been in the past. Oil Drums- Fully assembled and painted vacuformed plastic. Choice of color (OD, Black, Red, Gray or Weathered Rust) and available with top or without (for use as trashcan, parts bin, etc.) Price is $12.50 each. Handtruck- Made from soldered brass, with cast urethane wheels. Normally painted OD, but will paint to any color by request. Price is $18.50 each. Crosley Radio- Cast urethane, painted woodgrain with color repro dial. Woodgrain in Joe-scale is about the hardest thing to get right! Price is $18.50 each. Wooden Pallet- What can I say- its a wooden pallet, made out of wood! Assembled out of scale lumber components. Several types. Price is $10 each. $9 each for 10 or more. Wooden Crates- Generic wooden crates, various sizes. Assembled from scale lumber components. Price is $10 each, no quantity discount. Modern Pay Telephone- Cast urethane, painted. This is just the phone, not a phone booth. That will come later! Price is $14.50. That is the list for now. Please keep in mind I am a one-man operation and if I get backed up, I'll keep you posted on your order. There may come a point where we have a REAL job in the shop, and things will really slow down then. If that happens, I will not accept new orders and get existing ones out as fast as possible. Satisfaction is absolutely GUARANTEED! You must be happy with your order or you will get your money back! I am very picky about what I send out, so people are normally pleased with their order. But if something happens in the mail or I let a bad one get out, I will make good on what ever is wrong. If I can't- you get a refund! My business grows from word of mouth, so I have to be sure its all good!" -- Scoott

BATTLEFRONT PRODUCTIONS If you're looking for a permanent way to display your Joes and you don't like the sterile display case idea, check out the wares from Battlefront Productions. They make plastic "sets". One that comes to mind is a corner of a brick building. It was maybe a foot long and 6 inches deep and had that "this town has been bombed to pieces" feel to it. I haven't actually bought anything from Detail Productions
but I saw some of their work at Desimone's Joe show back in
December [1997]. They had an F-15 Eagle and I think an
AH-64 Apache built up. They looked pretty good though they
could've used a little more work on the finishing details.
Any way they also had the fiberglass shell for the Huey.
The guy I talked to said the Huey was a result from having
worked on Cliffhanger. The flyer I picked up listed the
following in kit form:

ERTL "The toy manufacturer Ertl is making 1/6 scale figures, with the assistance of Don Levine. They have two figures slated for mail and telephone order release only. They are a cop and a firefighter, with cloth, plastic, and metal accessories. The figures are obviously Joe-like and feature 21 points of articulation and look like they have the good old kung-fu grip. The figures look really nice, but they are 85 bucks! For example, the Medic will reattach a disconnected foot and hand for $15.00 total.
Joe Digriella or DeGrella "I just got my Joe back from The Medic (in Buckner, KY). The guy did a fantastic job refurbing my Joe. He almost looks new." -- Daaniel O'brien " I have used the Medic many times. Joe does first class work and the average cost is $25 -$35 for a talker rebuild. Send a little cash in with your joe and you get quicker turnaround." -- GNITTEEG He does it all, but when I inquired about rates he seemed out of this world! He can't do anything that you can't do yourself for free. -- Doug Thomas The Medic charges $20.00 plus shipping there and back to do voice surgery. -- GI Joe32 The Medic lives fairly close to me. I've had him restring several Joes and had one talker repaired. The restringing went well, and cost around $12 I think (it's hard to remember) about 1 1/2 to 2 years ago. Although I would have liked it tighter. The talker repair didn't help much. He had to work on it twice to achieve a marginal improvement. When I took it to his booth at one of our local flea markets, he examined the talker and listened to it (it still talked, but slowly) and said that he could make it sound new. When I went to pick it up, it sounded exactly the same. He said that he would fix it (again) to sound better, and there was some improvement after his 2nd attempt, but he then said that it was a junk doll and that I was lucky that it talked at all ($15-$20, again its hard to recall). ... I don't intend to have him repair anything else ... -- Don Condor I hear he advertises in the Toy Shop Magazine. -- Maark Natale MEEHAN TOYS These folks resell currently available Joe stuff for pretty reasonable prices. will be
around $20. Everything is still on the drawing board except the bunk
beds,

I make reproduction heads from any Joe from 1964 to the present, Captain Action, Marx (Best of the West), James Bond, Clint Eastwood, Steve McQueen, Vic Marrow, Elvis, or Illea Kuriaken, in any hair and eye color. I also reproduce large dogtags (Vintage and Adventure Team) and helmets (British & Nazi). It usally takes a week turnaround time per order. Sorry I have no pictures or a webpage but I have references. Prices are 12.00 per head, 6.00 per helmet. -- John Reiss "At $12 per head and $6 per helmet, I gave him a try. I got a Vic Morrow head mounted on a CC body, a Clint Eastwood head mounted on an SLU body, a German helmet, and a large GI Joe dogtag. The dogtag is a copy of the old child's size dogtag and will look good as a 'fridge magnet once I add the magnet backing. The German helmet is a good piece and only needs a few pinholes filled before I paint it (I got it unpainted, John can paint 'em for you!). Now, the heads... are great! John's painting is excellent. The eyes are better than Hasbro's and make the figures come to life. I highly recommend John's stuff to anyone who wants some variety in their troops! You just can't beat his prices!" -- Robert Sorrels To see some of his work, take a look at either his foreign or Clint Eastwood head. "Today I went to KMart in Los Angeles and they had a new 1/6 scale tank made for '12 inch figures'. I think the company who makes it is Sunny Smile. It is in a box almost exactly like the 21 Century Hummer, almost the same size vehicle as well. It looks very much like the Desimone tank that costs like $80 or something from DeSimone, but this one costs only 24$. In fact I think this one has a little more detailing on it than the DeSimone tank, but it is slightly smaller. I think it has rotating rubber treads too! Overall I think it's pretty good item to customize and kind of makes you think twice about buying a DeSimone tank." -- Sean "I just purchased the Strike Force Marine Commando ($9.99) and a generic Elite ($4.99). They are 12" tall instead of the CC's 11.5"! The $9.99 figure is the deluxe model and came with flocked hair! The head appears to be switchable with the SLU-type bodies. If you thought the new Sam figure took some getting used to, check these guys out. They look very foreign, yet not oriental. The articulation is close to the IHOF except the arms cannot extend out ward to the sides like Joe/Sam/Cots. The uniform was very well done. ... The accessories are very crude and remind me of the early HOF items. These guys will not compete with Joe or Sam, but I can see them taking the market from SOTW if they improve the weapons. Not bad for the money. " -- izhhevsk@swbell.net

Prices are on par with other customizers, but their stuff arrives when they say it will (averaging four-five weeks for me). Their M16's and HK5s are awesome. -- Jersbears TURCZYNSKI, LOUIS Louis Turczynski, Wernersvill, PA, phone (610) 670-1965 TWO GUYS TOYS
Two Guys Toys is one of the major dealers in GIJoe and all types of vintage toys. Be patient if you deal with these folks. I've heard that it might take up to 4 weeks to process an order. Then again other people have posted rave reviews with fast response time.

The Baroness was awesome and cost $25. -- Tashha Yar Here is his address: Brian Vota 606 Nagle Rd Erie, PA 16511 (814)899-6846 One guy at the NY Desimone show blew my socks off! - a customizer by the name of Baron Brock. He had really nice German uniforms and accessories. Metal helmets for $10! Awesome stuff, really. He built this German tank to scale and it was amazing. All his stuff was very realistic looking and done from resin castings, so no cheap plastic look to them. They look like real weapons and helmets! If anyone is interested, get on his mailing list. The only address I have is Brian Vota, 606 Nagle Road, Erie PA 16511. I don't know if Brian or Baron is the customizer, but that is the address on the order form. -- Chris Brian Vota makes the best custom weapons out there! The list is too long to post here, but to give you an idea here is a sampler:
I was inquiring about purchasing CC Joes from 1-800-WAL-MART because when I get to the Joe section it's usually cleaned-out. WAL-MART has a service called Walmart online and they do carry some store products and you can purchase these over the phone. At this time, they don't have the Joes online. However, I put a request in for the Joes. The rep told me she would submit the request to the Buyers. Possibly, if they got more requests, they would carry Joes online. This would save us a lot of driving to find empty Joe sections in the toy department. -- Vilt You can reach Wal-Mart by going to their web page at http://www.wal-mart.com/ and Going to "Click here to send comments" at the bottom of the page in small letters. Or by phone at 1-800-966-6546. -- the_Hman GI Joe® is a trademark of Hasbro, Inc. > |
