Chad M. Smith, EMT-P
November 27, 1972 - September 11, 2000
1972 - 2000
Rescue Lieutenant,
Thomasville Rescue Squad
Member,
Thomasville Urban Search And Rescue
Firefighter,
Pilot Fire Dept.
Firefighter,
Fairgrove Fire Dept.
Paramedic,
Davidson County EMS
Constantly growing and educating himself to better serve and protect the citizens of Davidson County, Chad M. Smith loved his fellow man. He worked everyday in one aspect of Emergency Services or the other. Whether Volunteering with Thomasville Rescue Squad and Pilot Fire Department, or being paid with Davidson County EMS, Chad was always giving unselfishly of himself. He gave countless hours to each organization both in training and actual Fire/Rescue Calls. Chad was involved in the
Hurricane Floyd Coastal Rescue and Recovery Efforts in 1999, as well as countless rescues and Fires in and around Thomasville.
On September 11, 2000 God recruited Chad into Heaven's Fire/Rescue Department where he will be well rewarded for his tragically short lifetime of unselfish services.
Although Chad will no longer be with us physically, his spirit will live forever within each and every siren that blares down the streets and highways of Davidson County.
Firefighter's
Prayer
When I am called to duty, God,
Wherever Flames may rage;
Give me strength to save some life
Whatever be its age.
Help me embrace a little child
before it is too late;
Or save an older person from
the horror of that fate.
Enable me to be alert
And hear the weakest shout,
And quickly and efficiently,
to put the fire out.
I want to fulfill my calling
And to give the best in me;
To gaurd my every neighbor
and protect his property.
And if according to my fate
I am to lose my life
Please gaurd with your protecting hand
my children and my Wife.
Good Bye Chad, We will miss you!
WE LOVE YOU!
