Behind The Walls

Well lets begin with the basics for you newbies out there. When you first get sentenced, you go from the courthouse to a reception center for a period of 90 days, so you can be evaluated and receive a security classification(Example: Max,Med,Min) Custody level.

Of course we are going to give the *Offender* all kinds of new clothing, supplies, books, stamps, and a whole battery of tests to determine if he is able to rehabilitate himself. *Even though he just commited murder and rape*

After the 90 day evaluation period the inmate now goes to the real prison to start serving his time.(*Time that should be used for hard labor*)When the inmate has finished checking in at the prison where he will be calling home until he discharges he is then taken to his cellhouse and assigned a room.

Alright is everyone still with me? I hope that this is easy for you all to grasp, I just would like you all to get an idea of what goes on everyday of my life at work. I am now going to move ahead to the exciting stuff you all came for in the first place.

Here are a few things that have happened to me over the years that the average taxpaying citizen don't even think about once in a lifetime.

• I have had my head busted open more times than I care to remember.
• I have been stabbed at and attempted to be stabbed with pencils, pens, and all sorts of homemade devices. (OUCH)
• Feces/urine and everything else you can imagine thrown in my face. (YUCK)
• I think by now you all have a good idea of what I mean, so enough said here. (THANKS for letting me get it out)

In ending this page I would like to say to everyone that a Correctional Officers job is a very demanding one in which we take alot of pride in doing. We lay our lives down everyday so the public can be safe and enjoy their libertys they so love,so the next time you see an officer please give us a long awaited thank you.
