Who we are: People Over Planes, Inc, was formed in 1987 in response to the introduction of commercial air carrier service at Buchanan Field, and the master plan at that time to expand Buchanan for additional air carrier service. Commercial air carrier service ended in February 1992, a victim of competitive pressure from Southwest Airlines at Oakland International Airport. People Over Planes has never advocated the closure of Buchanan Field. People Over Planes is currently a non-profit, public-benefit organization which provides residents and policy makers with information on the operation of Buchanan Field Airport from the perspective of the Community. None of our officers or board members receives financial compensation. We review the activities of the airport, analyze their consequences, and inform you and policy makers of those consequences. From time to time, we procure legal research on airport issues, such as the proposed real estate disclosure, and legal challenges to the County's Airport Noise Ordinance. |
