| INFORMATION Name - Melinda Joy Rackliffe Birthday - August 13, 1987 Grade - 12th Height - 5'8" 3 Mile Personal Best - 18:48 2004 Time Trial Time - 20:24 Season 2004 3 Mile Goal - sub 18:00 (ahh!) Favorite Course - ooh ...thats tough! Probably Woodbridge, although I really do like Mt. SAC! Letterman? 4 year Letterman Were you on the 2003 CIF Team? If so, how was it running on the State Course? Yes, I was an alternate though, so I didn't run it at State last year but I ran the course in 2001 when it was rainy and muddy. It was fun but pretty tough! Why do you run?/How did you get into running? Well...since I was about 4 my mom said I used to love to run around the track at Biola and beat my older brother everytime. That would maker laugh...but I started competitively running in 5th grade. I was on a club track team for a year but I quit when I moved to FV. I ran on the Jr. High Team and then started running for our high school team. I run for Jesus my Savior because anything else would be meaningless. All the glory goes to God for every race I ever run and without Him I would be nothing so...it all goes to Him!! ;-) He is my inspiration and my motivation to be the best I can be. Other than that I have just always loved to run. There's just something about it that I can't get enough of. It is such a great sport with wonderful people who have touched my life in so many ways. I wouldn't trad all my years of running and summer miles for anything! How do you feel about our 1st place Preseason Ranking in Div. 1 State? In the words of Napolean Dynamite, "Heck yes!" I'm way excited!! ;-) Who is your role model or inspiration? Well, Jesus of coooourse. But also Brandon Bethke. He is just an amazaing runner and person. I've only talked to him once but he is the nicest guy and I think it's so great how is so strong in his faith! He is not afraid to tell everyone who he runs for and I respect that so much (besides that fact that he is just a phenomenal runner)! Favorite quote - Definately Isiah 40:30-31. It's just an awesome verse! "Even youths will become exhuasted, and young men will give up. But those who wait ont he Lord will find new strength. They will fly high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. The will walk and not faint." I also like Newie's, "Shut up and run!" ;-) Do you have other hobbies besides running? I train and ride horses with my aunt, I like to write, I love the beach, I frolick in random meadows with Courtney (haha!) and I lead a small group of Jr. High girls at my church (yaay!). Favorite Subject in School - English most definately... Least Favorite Subject in School - Math! What class are you looking forward to this year in school and why? I really love both my AP Government and AP English classes. My teachers are really cool and they are awesome classes so far! Anything else you want to add? Ladies...you are all VERY special to me! (Hehe...remember Barry's "pep-talk"?) I love each and every one of you! The past 3 years with this team have been some of the best and fondest memories of my entire life.
