Ilxizhtighicangix | ||||||
Description: Ilxizhtighicangix stands 6 feet tall but its lanky body hardly looks like any strength could be harboured in its emaciated limbs. It has a bony, humanoid body with clawed hands and a deep mauve complexion with maroon highlights. Its head is beyond anything of normal humanoid standards, though. The skull is parted in two, following the shape of its highly developed brain, and its milky eyes are set deep in their sockets. The lower part of the face, where mouth and nose would normally be, four slim tentacles reach out, each 2 feet 6 inches long, hiding a lamprey like mouth. Black robes of fine textiles clothe Ilxizhtighicangix together with a maroon leather cape around its shoulders to keep the rain and snow from soaking it. To protect itself, it wears a chainmail linked on a soft leather shirt, a pair of light gauntlets and a formfitting steel mask over its face and skull. The mask sports small plates over the topmost tentacle and a smooth amethyst in the middle of its forehead. By its waist, hanging from a black leather girdle, a simple reddish brown sheath holds the weapon of this decadent creature: A fine, flamberge broadsword. Its guard and pommel are silvery, its handle wrapped in smooth, black leather and the sharp blade is wavy in construction and four feet long. Background: Ilxizhtighicangix's life began in the brainpool of the Duzcang citadell, deep beneath the earth. After ten years as an insignificant toad trying to stay alive in the pool, ten years of killing other Illithid toads in fights for the few brains that were fed to them, it was picked up and placed by the ear of a strong female human to enter her head and devour her brain. Having done so the body transformed and Ilxizhtighicangix could, after less than a year of morphosis, gaze upon the world for the first time, now a true Illithid. Enslaving the minds of lesser beings soon grew old with the young Mind Flayer, but instead it was drawn to the martial arts of swordsmanship. After 31 years as an Illithid it had spent its time together with tutors of half a dozen races, masters who would accept the apprenticeship of such a fell creature. And it learned, truly it learned well the many techniques of the broadsword and the hand-crossbow, honing its skills for no other reason than the knowledge of being a capable warrior. The travels to seek new swordmasters sparked the urge to journey the multiverse, seeking duelists like itself to defeat and new minds to sate its hunger. Abilities: Illithids are admittedly an overpowered race, powerful psoinics strong in both mind and body. They are stronger, tougher and faster than humans as well as possessing superior minds. They can also use the following powers: Mind Blast: An Illithid may attack the minds of living corporeal beings positioned in front of it, to an extent of 60 feet. It takes a strong mind to stand against the paralyzing force of the Illithid's will. Telepathy: Mind Flayers can communicate with thinking beings at a distance of no more than 100 feet. Enslave: The thoughts of other beings can be manipulated by an Illithids will. It can also sense the thoughts of other creatures. Levitate: Illithids can change the effects of gravity on themselves, lowering its grip on them or even causing it to repel them so that they rise off the ground. They cannot move horisontally, though, unless they have anything to push away from. Planeshift: By far the most powerful of the Mind Flayers' abilities is the ability to jump from the world they are currently on, to one close by. They may even bring along a small group of other people with them. This does, however, take about ten minutes of hard concentration. Extract: If an Illithid gets a hold of a creatures head with its tentacles, it can thrust its lamprey mouth through the skull and devour the unfortunate beings brain. While Illithids do appreciate the finer foods in life, they need the brain matter of sentient beings to sustain themselves and are also notorious for eating just about any other part of a creature's atonomy. Darkvision: Illithids can see in the dark by heat vision up to a distance of 60 feet. Light Sensitivity: Mind Flayers fare ill in the sunlight; it burns them, and they are blinded by light stronger than a torch. To find more information about Illithids you can go here. |
