Holy Week
April 21-23, 2000
1. North Malaita students perform a re-enactment of the Passion on Good Friday (Roman soldiers and Judas)
2. Jesus (played by Derek Lauta) is brought before Pilate (played by our head boy, Lawrence Diau)
3. Jesus is taken to King Herod (played by Sebastian Nauga); Roman soldier on Herod's right played by Johnson Ramoni
4. The choir sings hymns in  Lau language from North Malaita
5. The crown of thorns is placed on Jesus' head while one of the theives hangs on a crucifix to the left
6. Peparation for the Easter Sunday feast begins on Saturday morning (Ereri Terawasi and Mayline Leong peel cassava, a fibrous tuber that will be used to make a traditional dish called pudding)
7. Once the cassava are peeled, they are grated (Jonathan Aba, Joyce Maima and Sharmine Houaisuta are part of the grating crew)
8. Meanwhile, several other students are at work scratching coconuts, which will also be used in the pudding (Mark Anthony, center)
9. Even I took my turn at cassava grating, along with Derek Lauta, Sebastian Nauga, Johnson Ramoni and Thomas Bebeu
10. The grated coconut has been placed in a Solrais bag which is then squeezed by Alick Hokari and Gibson Oasanau on this contraption to generate coconut milk
11. Pauline Oru and Joyce Maima mix the cassava gratings and coconut milk together and then form it into a rectangular shape on top of banana leaves.  They will then fold and tie the leaves to create a bundle that will be placed on a motu to cook for 10-12 hours
