Mai-K Diary

2006/06/03 at live door [diary at live door]

What’s Up!! Recently, the weather has become hotter. Because this is a season that easily causes sunburn, I try my best to have counter-measure against the sunburn.

I’m doing recording and photographing everyday, and so I’m fully occupied.

Yes!! The new song “Diamond Wave?will be released on June 21. Please wait.

This time the music is like refreshing summer. The chorus part is using various devices to make the song delightful.

I really want to sing and dance with everybody!! With this kind of song, I will certainly do human wave at the live concert.

From June 3 the theme song is on air at “Sports Urugusu? so everyone please check it out.

New song release, live tour, this year I’m also being surrounded by music.

Mai's Interview
The article mentions that Mai's final performance (Oct 27, 28 at Budoukan) of her national live tour is approaching. Mai said that as a musician she can feel the change or growth as she elapsed through the live performances. She is going to enjoy the last day of her performance.

She got the ideas for her newest album "Fuse of Love" from her last year's live tour. The fans, the backstage musicians and the staffs, so many people with love supported together to sing. And also identical to the everyday life, it is what people can sense from the bottom of their hearts. These crowed feelings of gratitude, the love that gives people the strength to face forward expresses in the form of music.

The title means love's fuse. The axis of love, the feeling of solidarity and friendship were furthermore in " I sing a song for you" depicted as at the time when feeling of sad news, the wounded person want to turn towards the supplication of humane love at the near sentiment. Of all the song lyrics that Mai wrote, the various love cross-section rose to the surface vividly.

With the possess of the undulation of modernistic R&B and the old disco sound, the coming of the tune of the ballad at the the end composites tender feelings.

On the other hand, the direction of the new song is rock style with strong guitar and gorgeous synthesizer that makes up the energy of the tune. Because of the persisted feeling of always being a challenger, regarding to Mai, it is the type of song about the feeling of nervousness during a wrestle in the new life situation.

Music Freak Magazine
Mai's interview about her newest single, "Dancing", is being published in vol. 124 of Music Freak Magazine.
Some contents of the interview (not all of the questions and answers):

This time the song has a 80's groove with R&B dance feel and Mai said that the first time she heard the tone of this song is last year in April and right away she thought that this would be a great song in concert where everyone could sing along. It has a feel of lively motion and she thought the time to release this song is at the season when something has a new start. She will graduate from university in March, so this is an appropriate time to release this song about her turning point.
This time the content of the song is reassuring. What is the most important value that the lyric is trying to convey? Mai answered that overall the lyric is trying to express a positive view. The theme is the releasing of her inside feeling and sensation.
Is there any connection of the song with Mai's precious song, "Love, needing"? Mai said that it is difficult to find a connection, since the previous work is a long time love song and this song is full of vigor and energy.
What is the most important thing that the lyric of "You look at me ~one" is trying to convey? Mai said that when someone is at painful darkness, one will be squashed in the world of lonely isolation and lose sight of oneself.
Why did the decision is made for the PV to have photographing in L.A? Mai answered that "Dancing" is really a vigor song and the beginning of spring of NY is cheerfulness due to splendid rainfall and so it makes a vitality performance in the PV.
Finally Mai said that she really enjoyed very much working with the director who is a local resident there. The PV expresses a wonderful reflection of the cross over of the language barrier and music.
