One file looks like a text file but you need to download it to make the program work.

*If you are absent during the day we collect data for the lab, you can take data using this simulation: Simple Pendulum. Since this is a simulation, you do not need to do multiple trials for each length, etc, because there is no experimental error. Find the period for at least 10 different lengths, 10 masses, and 10 angles. Don't forget to record the values you hold constant for each experiment.

1. Do "Experiment 5: Picket Fence Free Fall" - due by the end of the period, one set of preliminary and analysis questions per group, NO FORMAL LAB REPORT NECESSARY! There are 5 lab stations, 3 with labpros (the green things that look like calculators) on the PC's and two with ULI boxes on Macs (to the left and right of room in front against the walls). You'll see the ringstands with photogates around the room. On all but the oldest mac, you will need to open the program LoggerPro on the desktop to get to the necessary file. The old mac has a sign on it telling you to open the ULI Timer folder and the "Picket Fence". You have used photogates before - you should be able to do this. Help each other if you get stuck.
2. Quiz over v vs t graphs next class - for a review do 1-D Kinematics Graphs (this was stapled to "Moo Motion" so you already have it). ON this quiz, you will be given two velocity vs time graphs and asked to do the following:
find displacement (area under curve)
find average velocity (displacement/time)
describe motion in words
draw a motion map including acceleration vectors if applicable
sketch a position vs time graph

When you click on the rectangle that the spring is hanging from and hold the mouse down and drag, a measuring tape will appear. Do springs of two different stiffnesses. Don't forget to record the initial spring length. If you use this simulation, you should be able to finish collecting data and do your graphs in a period.
