PREPARATION: Counting in a sequence left to right.

MATERIALS: 1. A 5-page folding book. Pictures of crows on a branch of a tree(pages 2-5 respectively,

not shown in the folding of the book but in flipping the book).

2. Five laminated cutouts of crows in an envelope to be matched individually on the five

branch segments of the book.

3. Control chart of the folding book.

4. Folder to hold the work.

PRESENTATION: 1. Invite the child.

2. Take the work to the table/rug.

3. Using the control chart tell the child that he is supposed to place the crows in a row

on the five branch segments. Do a demonstration for the first crow. Say "One".

Now you can flip the book to the second page. Ask the child to place another crow

on the branch. At this point you can do a three period lesson. Continue the exercise

until you used all laminated cutouts and placed them on the branch. Ask the child

to count all crows in the book.
