My name is Pete, I am 26 and live in the United Kingdom. After starting life in Edinburgh - and a little jaunt to live in Amboise, France - I spent most of my childhood living in Alnwick in north Northumberland. After leaving high school I moved to York to study Biology. Because I loved the the University and city so much, I chose to stay and study for a PhD. If you would like to discover more about my research, then please follow this link.
Of course, I have more interests away from biology. When I get the chance, I love to play sports. My particular favourites are basketball, volleyball, water polo, and rock climbing. As a sports fan from the north-east, I follow Newcastle United Football Club, Newcastle Falcons Rugby Club and Newcastle Eagles Basketball Team.
I enjoy watching comedies on TV, I especially love Red Dwarf and Friends. I would drop anything to watch an episode of The Simpsons or Futurama - they are absolutely hilarious!
In terms of musical tastes, I have a LastFM account and you can see my most listened-to tracks of the last week below:I wouldn't go so far as to call photography a hobby, but I do have some photos here
Please go to my links page to find out more about my interests!
I occassionally record thoughts and rants in my LiveJournal, although most of the entries are locked for "friends only" as I like to know who can read what! I sometimes join in the discussions on Newcastle United Fan's Journal
It's no exaggeration to say that my good friend Bert and his band (The Shirts) are the major players in the Spalding music scene. It's also no exaggeration to say that they also play in York ;o) ! Details of up-coming gigs and photographs of past gigs can be found at the Official Bert and The Shirts Website. You can even download one of their tracks. It gives you a fair idea of their musical style - it certainly fills the "middle ground between Coldplay and Chas n Dave"! Bert has recently gone solo - listen to a sample track from his EP "Unshirted" here
If Bert's brand of chirpy-angst-rock isn't your cup of tea, and you'd rather have a nice new bag, then my friend Kirsty will knit a nice new one for you - just click here and take a look!
