A simple cube, with an Image Plane reference picture to the left of it..  In the bottom pictures we can see how it looks from the right (as if looking from the arrow in the top picture) Bottom left is with Orthographic mode enabled - with perspective not factored in, everything aligns as it should Bottom right is with Perspective mode -  As you can see this causes all sorts of problems, the far side of the 3D cube is farther from the camera, and therefore smaller. And that's just one problem perspective mode can cause. So when using reference pics, it's good to use Ortho mode instead.
