(Reluctant Reading Resources, p. 10) PROCEDURES FOR A SAFE AND ORDERLY SCHOOL I. CLASSROOM MANNERS 1. Be an active listener, ie., * Look at the person speaking. * Listen attentively without interrupting. * Take turns speaking. Always raise your hand. * Get involved in discussion. 2. Treat others with respect by avoiding put-downs, by showing good manners, and by helping others when they need it. 3. Keep our classroom and our desks net and tidy. Show respect for other people's property. 4. Use appropriate voices in the classroom, and be quiet and orderly when moving around the classroom. 5. Stay on task and work independently, without disturbing others. II. HALLWAY MANNERS 1. Walk quietly through the hallways and keep to one side to allow others to pass. 2. Keep hallways clean and neat by putting garbage in appropriate containers, and by keeping hands off displays. 3. Be considerate of other classes at work while you are walking through or working in hallways. Speak only when necessary using our quiet voices. III. ASSEMBLY MANNERS 1. Enter and exit the gym in a quiet orderly manner. 2. Be a polite, appreciative audience by listening quietly and attentively, and by clapping when appropriate. 3. Remain seated properly on the floor during the assembly. Respect audience members seated next to you by not bothering them. 4. When invited to do so, raise your hand to ask a question or make a comment relevant to the presentation. 5. Make any necessary trips to the bathroom prior to the assembly, if possible.
