Torn: tear: pull violently, pull apart with force, make rent, pull (down, off, away).

Falling water
forcefully (violently) pulled earth and rocks down the sides of hills. Falling water forcefully (violently) rent the earth.

Divided: part, separate (into pieces, into parts), split (up), separated, cut off, distribute, share.

Divided:
Flowing sediment laden water
split (cut) the earth and its rocks into parts (pieces) and distributed (shared) them out upon the earth.

Divided: fractured, smashed.

Divided:
Falling, flowing, sediment laden water fractured and smashed
rock (the earth).

Burst: be filled to the point of breaking open, filled to overflowing, violently fly apart (open) by pressure or expansion, break violently, fly asunder (apart), shatter, appear suddenly, sudden outbreak (bursting forth), explosion, spurt.

Water flowed beneath the earth, and the earth expanded as it was filled, and earth and rock shattered and flew apart, as water violently
spurted (exploded), up/out, and onto the earth. Rivers and streams were full of water and they violently burst their banks, and flooded the surrounding land.
