And they led Jesus away, and they brought him into the house of Caiaphas the high priest. And they led him to Annas first, because he was the father inlaw of Caiaphas, who was the high priest that year, and all of the elders and the chief priests and the scribes were gathered together with him.

And Simon Peter followed from far off, and so did another disciple; and the high priest knew that disciple, and that disciple went into the palace of the high priest with Jesus.

But Peter stood at the door outside. Then that other disciple, which was known to the high priest, went out and spoke to her that kept the door, and he brought Peter in.

And the servants and the officers were standing there, and it was cold: and they started a fire of coals in the middle of the hall on the lower floor of the palace; and they all sat down together and warmed themselves: and Peter sat down with the servants, to see what would happen, and he warmed himself at the fire.

Then the high priest asked Jesus about his disciples and his doctrine.
And Jesus said to him, I spoke openly to the world: I was [
pantote] always teaching in the synagogue, and in the temple, where the Jews always went; and I didn't say anything in secret.
Why are you asking me? ask those who heard me, what I have said to them: behold, they know what I said.
And when he had said that, one of the officers which were standing by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, and said, You [
apokrinomai] answer the high priest like that?
Jesus said to the officer, If I have spoken evil, testify of the evil, but if I have spoken the [
kalos] truth, why did you strike me?

But the damsel that kept the door, one of the high priests maids, came, and when she saw Peter sitting by the fire in the palace warming himself, she looked at him earnestly, and she said, This man was also with Jesus of Nazareth of Galilee. Aren't you also one of this man's disciples: But he denied it in front of them all, and he said, I am not, I don't know, and I don't understand what you are talking about, and he went out onto the porch; and the rooster crowed.

And when he had gone out onto the porch, a little while later, again another maid saw him, and said to the people who were standing by, This is one of them, This fellow was also with Jesus of Nazareth. Then they said to him, Aren't you also one of this man's disciples? And with an oath, again he denied, I do not know the man.

And about an hour later, those persons who were standing by came to Peter, and one of the servants of the high priest, a relative of Malchus, whose right ear Peter had cut off..Jn 18:10..confidently said to Peter again,
Didn't I see you in the garden with him? Surely you are one of them, because you are a Galilaean, and your speech is similar.

Then Peter began to curse and swear, and he said, I do not know this man who you are talking about, and as Peter was speaking, the rooster crowed a second time.

And Jesus turned around, and he looked at Peter. And Peter remembered what Jesus had said to him, Before
the rooster crows twice, you will deny that you know me three times. Luke 22:34

And Peter went outside, and when he thought about it he, he cried [
pikros] violently.
