Hull Dockers v Skirlaugh

HULL Dockers will look to complete their fourth successive win against Skirlaugh at Tower Grange tomorrow. With both sides already out of the ACE Insurance National Cup, the revised Premier Division fixtures have paired them together. Having both had good wins in the Carnegie Challenge Cup last week, it is bound to be a spicy encounter. "We have beaten Skirlaugh the last three times we have played them and we'll be looking to do it again" said Dockers coach Lee Richardson. "It was a trek to St Albans last week, but we got somewhere near in getting the right result. We'll maybe have to do things a lot better this week against Skirlaugh. "Seven players missed last week, but I expect a few of them to be back. I'm looking forward to it and it's going to be an interesting and exciting game." Dockers welcome back full-back Danny Ulyatt, who picked up a knock at Queens and didn't travel south, with Matty Emerson and Phil Elbourne also set to return. It is Dockers' first home game since November 24 due to postponements and away fixtures in the various cup competitions. Skirlaugh are equally upbeat and have just one injured absentee. "We go into this game with confidence after last week's win over Waterhead and our only injured player is still Brendan Lewis" said coach Tony Spence. "We're looking forward to this game even though it has come to us rather unexpectedly. "Dockers and Skirlaugh games are always tough as there are a few of our former players with them. "This will be a game of patience and we'll take the chances which are on offer. "We are prepared for it, although the boggy ground is more suited to their way of playing then ours." :

Rochdale Mayfield v Hull Dockers

HULL Dockers travel to Rochdale Mayfield looking to back up their 22-16 home win against West Bowling. Coach Lee Richardson is happy with the way his side are playing, but knows they have a lot left. He reckons this is a difficult game as Mayfield came up this season and will want to remain in the Premier Division. "We did well last week and I want the lads to continue in this form when we go to Mayfield tomorrow" he said. "If we can keep doing the little things right then I'm sure we can come up with the right result. "We have made it into the top six and we have to continue to get the points and stay there. "There are still a lot of players to come back into the side which will only add to the quality we already have. "A win at Rochdale will be a massive one as they are a good side on home soil." :

Hull Dockers v West Bowling

HULL Dockers moved into the top six for the first time this season with a 22-16 win over West Bowling at Tower Grange. Dockers put in an excellent first 40 minutes, but had to stave off a comeback by a spirited Bowling in the second half. Coach Lee Richardson was pleased with the win, especially as he had to play without a full complement of players. "We lost Gary Adam in the warm up and even though we had him on the bench there was no way he could have played" said Richardson. "The first half saw us work hard and get the rewards against a spirited opposition. "In the second half we started shakily and gave them a chance of winning. "I don't think the final result was ever in doubt and I feel we are really doing very well. "They came at us, but the decent performance we put in has taken us into the top six so I'm happy." Man-of-the-match Danny Ulyatt started the scoring off with a tenth-minute try goaled by Paul Taylor. It took just five minutes for Bowling to reply through full-back and former international Lee Innes with a converted try. Dockers went back in front when Andy Taylor, back after injury, came off the bench to score and namesake Paul added the goal. Then two tries in three minutes ensured a 22-6 lead at half-time for the home side. Darren Bumby, another player who has been out of the side, went in for Dockers' third try. Jon Eccles also forced his way over the whitewash, and with one Taylor goal Dockers had a 16-point lead. The second half was 15 minutes old when Bowling prop Lee Hutchinson got through the Dockers defence for a try. This was followed 10 minutes later by one for Ricky Helliwell as Innes added one goal, but Dockers hung on.

Hull Dockers 22 - West Bowling 16

HULL Dockers must play for the full 80 minutes to get the right result against West Bowling according to coach Lee Richardson. He wants his players to prepare for this game as though it was against a "big" team even though he is not underestimating Bowling's ability. "We have to give it our all for the full game and not 50, 60 or 70 minutes as we did at Wigan last week" he said. "This is another big test and we have to go out there and finish the side off. "If we do then we're confident of getting the two points, if not we'll struggle and come away with nothing." Richardson is without Matty Emerson, who sustained a facial injury in last week's game. Phil Elbourne and Dave Fletcher are out due to work commitments and Chris Fisher has a back problem. Gary Adam, Darren Bunby and Andy Taylor will come back in as replacements. Richardson may also look at drafting in a couple of players from the second team for cover.

Wigan St Patrick 26 - Hull Dockers 14

HULL Dockers coach Lee Richardson insists his side will take plenty of positives from their 25-16 defeat at Wigan St Patricks. Crucial decisions can go for you and also against you as Hull Dockers found out on Saturday.A poor refereeing display from Brandon Robinson for both sides it has to be said caused frustration. Richardson did not blame the referee for his handling of the game, but believes he got crucial decisions wrong. "The referee came up with some howling decisions out there for both sides but they were at crucial times" said Richardson. "The 50/50s didn't go our way and the nine-point loss certainly doesn't do our performance justice. "People will look at it as a loss, but we take great heart from this performance. "We maybe did lose our way a little bit in the second half having led at half-time. But they came at us hard in the second half and we were not able to match them at times." Dockers took a fifth-minute lead through a Phil Elbourne try, but Pats responded with an Alan Reddicliffe try and Ian Schofield goal. However, Dockers led 10-6 at half-time. Centre Adam Charlesworth out-stripped the Pats defence to go in as Paul Taylor landed the conversion. The lead lasted until nine minutes into the second half. Schofield added a converted try before both sides were reduced to 12 men when Pats Anthony Houghton and Dockers Steve Sellars were both sent off for fighting on 55 minutes. Just before the hour Pats sub Mike Alker went in as Schofield goaled and Reddicliffe landed a drop goal for a 19-12 lead. Steve Bennett added four points to the home side's score with a further try. Three minutes from time Dockers sub Jon Aston went in for a try to bring his side back to within seven points. Unfortunately a late Schofield penalty was enough to secure the win.

Pete Stephenson Walk

Hull Kingston Rovers have offered their facilities and services to prevent a charity walk from having to be cancelled On a Tuesday evening in August two years ago, playing for Hull Dockers against East Hull at Tower Grange, Stephenson’s life was changed forever. In a pattern of play, he had undertaken hundreds of times before, running from acting-half, he unfortunately broke his neck in two places. Early prognosis was very poor and it was first thought the former ‘league and cup winner’ with West Hull would never walk again. An operation was performed at Hull Royal Infirmary to repair the damage and he was then transferred to Pinderfield’s for rehabilitation. Pete Stephenson, the ex Hull Dockers and West Hull player, will now attempt to walk the one-mile circuit around East Park, in the city, on Saturday 15th September at 1.30 pm. The event had been planned several weeks ago but with the home fixture against the Huddersfield Giants being changed, the event looked in jeopardy. It is anticipated it will take Pete around one hour to complete the one-mile walk and friends, family and supporters, will join hundreds from the world of rugby as he makes his way round. There will be a bucket collection where people can contribute as little or as much as they want. Top names from the world of rugby are expected to join representatives from both local professional rugby clubs as well as amateur players from across the city. With still a few things, left to finalise Smith said: “I cannot praise Hull Kingston Rovers, Lora Webster and Lee Marshall from the community development team enough ally they have been superb. They have allowed us to hold the after-party at Craven Park prior to their game against the Giants. This will see stars from the world of rugby league take part in a question and answer session as well as take on each other in a quiz. “Steve McNamara, James Lowes, Tony Smith, Steve Prescott and Lee Briers will be joined by several other top names. Hosted by Gwilym Lloyd and Darren Letham the tickets priced £10 are selling very well and we are expecting a full house.” The after-party will commence at 4 p.m. in the Harry Poole bar and is due to finish around 6p.m. allowing everyone time to see Pete walk onto the pitch prior to kick off.
